Absolutely horrific service. Kim charged us up front and told my girlfriend he'd fix a link in the band of her sentimental watch within a week. It wasn't done and he couldn't find the watch. A few weeks later he made up another excuse as to why the watch wasn't done. After 2 months, we came in again and he still hadn't fixed it but said he would do it within half an hour. When we came back that day it looked fixed but fell apart on her within half an hour. I had to demand our money back and he wouldn't even apologize for stringing us along for months. Kim seems like a nice person but this business is not one to give service to.

In short I highly recommend avoiding this shop at ALL COSTS but to hear a story of complete ignorance read along. I brought my watch to this man's shop in September with the capacitor that it needed replaced. First of all he charged me an outrageous price, $65 for a $20 and 20 minute job, I got him down to $45 and agreed. Secondly, a week passed and he told me I had given him the wrong capacitor. I knew at this point the man didn't know what he was doing because I had changed the capacitor before with the same one I had given him. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and allowed him to "order the correct battery" from the manufacturer. I returned to his shop twice and called multiple times between early September and thanksgiving, he insisted that he had ordered the correct battery but the manufacturer, Seiko, had sent him the wrong battery multiple times. Over the phone he stated becoming more belligerent as I called more frequently to get updates on my watch. In person he acted nice and clueless about all that was happening. Two weeks ago, early December (this ordeal started in September) I came to him demanding my watch back. He told me that he had finally gotten the battery but moisture got into the watch and for this reason the entire watch wasn't working. Logically, if this was true he would have been the only one who had let the moisture in being that the watch had worked perfectly before the last capacitor died. Again he was granted the benefit of the doubt and I told him he had one more week and I was coming to get my watch without fail. I returned to his shop earlier today and again, he went back to the excuse of not having the battery, so either he was lying a few weeks ago or lying today. Then, as if I wouldn't notice he took out the ORIGINAL CAPACITOR THAT I GAVE HIM and says "oh the battery is right here". He tells me to return in an hour, which I do. I come back and ask him about the battery and he rambles about the battery, not making sense. I demand my money back and he insists he only has $13 on him, something that again doesn't make sense. I tell him that I know of the process and remind him of how i had told him about the capacitor from the very beginning and he then begins to question my competence. When I informed him that I changed the capacitor myself before he says that I am not skilled enough and asks why didn't I do it myself. For those curious, my tools are in New York and i figured for $20 I could get my capacitor fixed and wear the watch that following week. Clearly this man doesn't know how to run a business and barely knows what he is doing with watches, I personally feel disrespected and am thoroughly annoyed with my experience at this watch repair shop, again avoid at all costs. If I could give this shop negative stars I would without question.

P.S. In addition to "losing" my watch and refusing to hand it over for months, when he finally did so, he substituted the expensive crystal glass with cheap fake replacement of a wrong diameter. Stay away! For 8 months I was coming back for my watch. I visited Mr Kim almost 30 times. Every time Mr Kim would act like he was seeing me for the first time. Many times he promised specific time when the work would be done. Last week I visited him three times. Finally he promised to have it ready by Friday - but on Friday he left for a family reunion. This past Monday I went to demand an explanation. For the thirtieth time he asked for my name and for the name of the watch, he would theatrically look around the shop, and finally found it - the work hasn't even started. He was swearing to God the watch would be ready by Wednesday. On Thursday he first asked for my name, then for the watch' making, then he would look for it for 15 minutes, then he showed me the watch - hooray, he found it! However, the work hasn't even started. He promised to have it ready by tomorrow... Does anybody know where I go to have him fined for this unacceptable behavior towards customers??

My watch battery died the day before I was leaving on a long trip. I called just before closing and he made sure he got my battery replaced in time. It's great to still have a place like this so conveniently based in a neighborhood, vs having to go to a mall jeweler or downtown. I'm glad he's still based where he is.
