Find a professional hairstylist! My biggest mistake ever!!! Yesterday, I decided to go to a beauty school to get my hair done. I have been to the beauty school near Broad & Lehigh 4 years ago to get a pedicure. I decided to go to the school to get a shampoo, deep conditioner; blow dry with brush; trim; and curl(flat iron). The service was $32.00, which you have to pay before u get any service. I waited for 5 minutes just to get wash. It was one student; who was working with a black man who had dread locs. The student looked like she was in her mid to late 40s; with heavy eyelashes on and her braids looked like they needed to be retouched. She looked like she been through it in her life and she was trying to find herself. The beauty school is ran by Asians. When she student started my hair; I felt uncomfortable because t she was making these sounds, which I assumed that she might have a mental health condition, as well as had these facial expressions that were peculiar. My hair is medium length and thick; which my type of hair texture needs extra heat. The student clearly didn't know how to comb my hair while it was wet. She started to comb my hair at the top, which I was taught to comb at the ends and work your way up. She was combing chunks of my hair, which she didn't part in small sections. I was frustrated, which I informed the Asian Woman who was speaking in Korean to another woman to tell the student about how to comb my hair. She told me to tell her, which I did. The student continued making these noises, which was even more nerve wrecking. What took the cake with me was that she did not use any product to blow dry my hair, especially since it's coarse; the hair products; hair dryer; blow dryer; and flat irons was cheap. When I go to hair salons they have updated everything, especially when it comes to having the flat irons that are over $100 + dollars. When she blow dried my hair it was very clear that she did not know what she was doing, especially when the temperature is not high and the blow dryer is a $20.00 cheap one that doesn't have the Ion or the certain heat settings. I stopped her and asked to speak to the manager. I'd stated to them that my hair has to have high heat on it, so it can be straight, as well as that I haven't had a perm in 5 years. The manager who's Asisn said that they don't use excessive heat. I showed them a pic when I went to a Dominican on how my hair is blown out before getting flat ironed. I was still irritated, but I wanted my hair done right. I also thought a hair school Teacher will guide that student by showing what she's doing wrong. The Teacher claimed that mostly older people come in or people with fine hair. I thought that it was bullish*t! The customer is always right! She also didn't have a roll brush. Just a cheap brush to blow dry my hair. My hair sounded like it was popping. My hair was not fully blow dried all the way. She put the flat irons in it, which the flat irons wasn't even hot. I had to say something! She stated that she was going to flat iron my hair and trim my hair afterwards. I knew she didn't know how to do my hair. I called my friends because I was stressed they were telling me to leave to go to the Dominicans. I didn't have time since I was going out on a date and since I paid for the service I couldn't get my money back. I also commented on the student making noises, which the Teacher claimed that I was making her nervous. I even asked if someone else can do my hair. They said that the student can do my hair. I was there for 2/hrs. My hair looked like I didn't get it professionally done. She didn't even spray my hair. I asked for half my money back because I was not satisfied, which I stated that I wasn't leaving til I get half or all of my money so I can go somewhere else to get my hair done. This Asian woman was scared she locked herself in her office. I called the police, and she called the police. I didn't want an altercation with this unprofessional female. My hair was frizzy at the top !
