Very cool and historical site littered with structures from different points in time.

Doesn't look like much from the street but behind the first two "old" buildings is a trail full of 250 years of history. Not just a forest trail: Around every bend is another structure from an ironworking village dating back to George Washington. Great views of the reservoir and the river. This place is good for a short (2 hour) and easy hike, even for small children; or if you want an adventure, the map shows a longer trail that leads to Ringwood Manor. If you come during open museum hours, the staff are very excited to explain more of the history and the iron artifacts. They also put on shows (like Shakespeare or night-time candle walks), so if you're local, ask for a schedule of upcoming events.
