I took my family to the recreation center for the pool. Unfortunately, it is not very nice. I expected more from Macomb.
Both the air and water temperatures were cold that day. The kid's area is small and does not contain much to do.
The "lazy river" is not so lazy. The many jets create a current so strong it is difficult to get out of without being slammed into the concrete walls. This also applies to a giant whirlpool that is connected to the river.
The lane pool was also nothing special. The lane dividers were in and you had to stay in your lane. No place simply for a free swim.
To conclude, the pool area was a big disappointment, especially at $10 a person. I would recommend going to the Warren Community Center and using the pool there. The kids area is bigger and better, and the main pool is also bigger.

Great facility but difficult to take advantage of for working out when there are no evening or even late afternoon childcare hours. They used to offer them and then took them away. The cost for me to pay for a sitter just to go to the gym is making Lifetime Fitness or LA Fitness seem like a more sensible option. Maybe this is geared more towards stay-at-home moms since childcare is only offered from 8:30am-12:00pm. (?)

I love this gym. If you read negative reviews, they were probably made before all of the improvements were started. I have been a member here for 2 years and although I loved the gym from the start, I am loving it more now. The new owners are really making a huge effort to improve the gym. The classes are great! I keep motivated to work out because of all of the great instructors and fellow members that I do classes with everyday. You aren't just a number like at planet fitness or other franchise gyms. This gym is more friendly and feels more like community. I would urge anyone to come in a check it out. It's a good gym and it's only getting better.

I had a membership here, which was a fair price for a resident under the age of 21. Depending on the day, the lifting room can get a little crowded, but the cardio room is usually open. They even have a cross fit room that is a tad small but pretty empty on most days. Lastly (of the things I use), the basketball courts are empty in the mornings, while most kids are in school and packed at nights, generally in the winter. If you're a resident under 21, I would take advantage of the low membership rates. Great, fun place for all ages.

I take the kids here pretty regularly throughout the colder months to get some pool and play time in. Its a great place to pass the time while they run around through the kid area, down the waterslide or across the water log zone. One time recently we were there, and the chlorine seemed a little intense (I wasnt even in the water that day) which I'd never experienced before, but this was once out of the past few years. The bathrooms, showers & locker rooms are clean so the little people can shower off before leaving and the spin machine has always worked so Im not forced to take soaking wet suits & towels home with me. I just wish our own city had something like this. But for now, we're content to go here.
