This is a nice neighborhood movie theater. It doesn't have all the fancy stuff as newer theaters but it has a certain charm too it. Good prices for tickets and concession items. I recently saw the latest Avengers there, the screen was a bit dim which made it somewhat hard to see. Despite that I enjoy going to this theater. It has a a sort of retro vibe and there are nice shops to walk to close by.

Neighborhood style movie theater. Renovations are in the talks. 2 theaters for different movies rotated for time of day. Very popular for children shows. Very picky on movies shown so they tend to only have the higher rated flicks. They show what sells as they have 2 auditoriums, which ensures that you are viewing a top quality movie of the season. Great location to walk to after a meal out. Friendly staff.

This theater is definitely sub-par when compared to many others around the area. While nothing about it is awful, it has a lot of... "quirks" that have made my experiences there less enjoyable than they could've been.
My biggest complaints deal with the screen/projector used in the main theater. It seems as though the projector is hitting the screen a slight angle, which causes the projected image on the left side of the screen to be taller than the projected image on the right side of the screen. Additionally, I've noticed that the image sometimes gets a little distorted, similar to when you look through hot air coming off the flames of a grill.
That being said, the seats are reasonably comfy, the staff members are polite, and it is always clean! The Highland Mann Theater is better than the nearby Grandview Theater, but there are certainly better places to see a movie in St. Paul.
