This place is a treasure, in business since 1935. The crab bisque is so full of crab you won't believe it and it is DELICIOUS. The seafood gumbo is a close second, but a little too heavy on the okra for my taste. The redfish Jane was also very, very good. Service was excellent and all of the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Decor and ambiance are straight out of a time long gone, but the Mayflower keeps it alive with a vengeance. Different lunch specials daily. Do not miss the field peas, they don't get any better. Great neon signage, too.

Historic cafe with delicious and reasonably priced food. 
Food to try: Try their daily lunch menu very quickly served! I also had their fried green tomatoes, and grilled chicken. I highly recommend. 
Staff is very friendly.
Parking- street parking available free for 1 hour. Public parking lot nearby for $5 for 3 hours

My favorite seafood restaurant. I don't Normally like just hanging out and having a long dinner, but this place relaxes me. Especially when you byob a big bottle of wine. The trick to the mayflMayf is knowing what to order. Stay away from veal and steak....go with seafood. Especially the broiled. Amazing dessert too.

I took a group of 11 high schoolers and the “hostess” and two waitresses began griping about not getting tipped before we ever sat down.  I understand that teens are notoriously stingy with tips, but my kids and I couldn’t help but hear every.thing.they.said.   I think they just wanted us to leave.  Very awkward. My stuffed shrimp were very good, but the chilly reception, dingy “character” of the atmosphere, and that bathroom (round the back, enter the code, up the creepiest staircase east of the Mississippi) brought the overall impression down.  Did I mention that the waiter poured tea down my left arm, leg, and into my purse?   The worst part - the kids were pumped up about going there, and they ended up insulted.

Great nostalgic atmosphere. Great food. Great service. The "comeback sauce" is worth coming back for!
