McAfee Knob

Worth hiking here. It has two different routes: fire road (easy)and Appalachian Trail (little hard) and it took around 8 miles for the complete hike. The view at the top is so phenomenal.

This hike was a little rough (8 miles round trip) but so worth it once you got to the top. The uphill hike is definitely worse than coming back down. Everyone starts the hike in the same place and at some point in the trail you can keep walking straight or veer off to look at the map on the right. If you keep walking straight you’re on the fire road and it’s wider and flatter. Going to the right you’re met with a narrower trail and an uphill/downhill walk. There’s also a camp ground and a shelter. Either way if you can push yourself to get up there it’s totally worth it.

Took the original trail up, and the fire road down to save some time. Tough hike, bring water, prob not little kids. Beautiful, challenging, rewarding. You will need 4-7 hours from trailhead. Got caught in the rain, and got drenched. Amazing!!!

The view is breathtaking. Unlike anything I’ve seen, and the feeling is immensely rewarding once you reach the top. Highly recommend.

Very easy hike if you don't mind the distance. Awesome views and cliffs.
