The team is absolutely incredible. Today was my second time visiting, and I seriously can’t rave enough about the staff. From the moment I got there, each person I encountered was friendly and made me feel comfortable. 10/10 would completely recommend to anyone. Thank you to each employee who helped me today!
I had a wonderful experience except for one thing. The nurse forgot to call in one of my prescriptions. This was around 5:30 in the afternoon and I started at 8:00 a.m. the next morning trying to get the prescription called in. After leaving a message at 8:00 a.m. calling back and speaking to someone at noon and calling back at 2:00 p.m. I never got my prescription called in. My diagnosis was walking pneumonia and the forgotten prescription was for a breathing treatment. This happened on a Friday and I was told maybe I could get it on Monday. A prescription that a patient needs should not have to wait until Monday. The moral to this story is that always get a prescription in hand and do not trust anyone to call it in.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I would not recommend this place. I have been here multiple times to give them multiple chances. Every time that I come here for a multitude of different things, they will test you for strep, flu and Covid. If it all comes back negative, no other tests or questions will be given/done. They will say “I don’t know” we’ll give you a steroid shot and send you on your way. Also they will give you NO paperwork regarding anything unless you ask 4 different people. Once again, I will never be back. However I HIGHLY recommend the urgent care in Hoover on Highway 150. I went there and they ran multiple tests and actually gave me a diagnosis, they are actually clean and do their job.
Went to this location soon after they opened. I was diagnosed with acute respiratory infection, given an injection, and told they would send 2 prescriptions to my pharmacy. Three hours later when the prescriptions still had not been sent, I called and left a message for the nurse to ask when they would send them. Never received a response. The office was closing early that day, so I drove back to their location to talk to them so I could get started on the antibiotic. I arrived 40 minutes before closing to find the doors locked and no one there. Now I will have to wait another day for the meds. This is totally unacceptable!
Edit for update: So the nurse manager called me and handled my concerns very quickly and nicely. Within 15 minutes I got a call from another practioner...only to find out the medications had already been sent. So had the nurse at the original location cared more about me as a patient than trying to be right, she could have checked my chart and saw my meds had been sent. I can't say I will return to this location, but thank you to nurse manager and the NP that did reach out. I truly appreciate your care. I normally have a positive experience at this location. Today was the exception. I went in with severe cough and tested positive. They send me away saying the doctor will call me. An hour passes and no call. I call them and they say "he calls covid patients back in the evening". WHAT DOCTOR MAKES A PATIENT WAIT AN ENTIRE DAY??!!! Especially a patient that is supposedly supposed to "go home and quarantine". Then when I go back to the office after sitting for an hour at the pharmacy waiting for his call and medication the nurse has the nerve to tell me "well he is busy". Oh, I thought it was your protocol to wait until the end of the day. WHICH ONE IS IT?! If I was still in the room, he would have had to come to talk to me. So my phone call should be a "room consultation" just like any other patient in the room. I'm a fellow medical professional and this office has disgusted me today. I know better as a practioner...imagine patients who just accept the lies I was given. Call your patients just as you would walk in their room. We are paying a hefty co-pay to be treated as secondary to others because of our diagnosis.
I had to call MedHelp 280 to clarify somethings about my account and I spoke to Regina. I tell you what, it is people like her who make a company or organization shine. She was so professional and informative but also down to earth and kind. Please give Regina some love because MedHelp is blessed to have her onboard. My one interaction with her is worth 5 stars. Thank you!
Sorriest run business of any kind, especially for a medical practice. The only reason I went there was my insurance required a referral from a PCP. I got referred to six specialists. Not one time when I arrived at an appointment had Shelley Powell the referral coordinator done the correct referral on the BCBS website. I have her number in speed dial I have had to call her so many times. Several times when I arrived at an appointment and she could not be reached I had to reschedule the appointment. I arrived at St Vincent’s fir hip replacement, no referral. I began emailing my nurse days in advance and asking her to reach out to Shelly Powell to make sure the referral was done properly before I went to the specialist and the referral was still not done. Not one time have I gone to an appointment where the referral was done correctly. I had to file an appeal because BCBS is refusing to pay a $1200 bill because she did not do the referral properly. I contacted her boss, Greg Walters, and he actually tried to put it back on me saying it was my responsibility to make sure the referral was done properly even though I cannot do the referral myself or I would have !!’ His staff is incapable of doing the only thing I went there for, a referral!!! Thank God my new insurance does not require this and I can leave this joke of a practice. I went in recently because my pharmacy would not fill my blood pressure meds. When I went back to the pharmacy they told me the refills were not called in. When I contacted the nurse she told me that was an acute care visit and not a follow up so I would need to make another appointment??????? My last visit was to get the refills. Furthermore it is inconvenient to drive from Vestavia to Inverness and when I try to make appointments there are none available that do not require missing work. I see a half dozen other doctors and I can get appointments there without missing work. I’m done!!! Straw that broke the camels back etc!!! Glad to be done with this place, don’t need the inconvenience and aggravation. Do not use this practice!!!!
My daughter was just in the Urgent care and told the doctor, Dr. Willoughby, what meds she couldn’t have because of a major allergic reaction in the past. She was on two meds at the time, one being a steroid. Her pediatrician has advised we avoid both to be safe. The doctor laughed at her and tried to give her the shot anyways! My daughter said she wasn’t comfortable taking the shot and the doctor was very rude and said “you’re not allergic to that! And laughed at her.” We will never go back! Very unprofessional and rude!
They don’t have good COVID policies. Nobody wearing masks etc. Also the front desk rarely has change so they are not cash friendly. On top of that, the RN had a hard time cleaning my ears and stopped in the middle of the procedure. They didn’t give me anything for ear infection and I had to come back a week later paid another copay. I live close by but I only go here as a last resort.
I have been to to Med Help Urgent Care 280, a few times when my GP was closed. My husband and I are thoroughly impressed with the care given, speedy service, polite staff and quality physicians!!
