Mesa Grande Cultural Park

It's a great place to learn more history about the Native Americans who lived in the valley hundreds of years ago, just don't expect to see any exciting exhibits. The whole park consists of old dirt mounds which are impressive to think about how they constructed them, just not very entertaining to look at. I enjoyed my experience overall.

Although this Hohokam platform mound has not been totally excavated, there is a lot of information about it. The SWAT (Southwest Archaeology Team) is there giving visitors very detailed information and the small visitors center has some great artifacts. There are small areas that have been uncovered to show the original walls. Wear a hat, good shoes to walk in, sunscreen, and bring a camera. There are restrooms in the visitors center. The path is a little rough in areas around the platform and may be tough in spots for wheelchairs but possible. The path that runs on the top of the platform is not suitable for wheelchairs. Please allow up to two hours to visit this site.

Great archeological site! It's a great learning experience! There are constant discoveries and the staff is amazing. I am an MCC student and we dig during the spring, the professors will more than welcome any questions you have if they are on site.

This place was really neat. There's a lot of info about the natives that lived in the valley almost 1000 years ago. I recommend taking your kids at least once.
