Mestizo Louisiana Mexican Cuisine

Customer service was decent.. our waiter Brit was very helpful and polite. Our drink cups had lip residue on it. When we brought it up, the bus boy immediately replaced it. I do have to say the chips and salsa were amazing. Chips were light and crispy while the salsa was not too spicy. It had the perfect kick. I ordered 'la cena' which was a cheese enchilada, beef enchilada, beef taco, and pork tamale, with side order of rice and beans. ALL OF IT WAS DRY. The meat had zero taste, and felt as if it had been sitting out for hours. I was really looking forward to eating at this restaurant because I thought the price reflected the quality of food. The other dish that was ordered was a classic chicken and steak fajitas for two. It did not come out on a sizzling skillet. The chicken felt very processed and tasted like card board. The steak was chewy and undercooked. The rice was hard and dry as if it came from the bottom of the pot. We could easily tell that the food was just reheated and serve. I would recommend you going to taco bell before Mestizo. Had I known I would of checked the reviews before wasting time and money here.

Was amazing! Food was fresh and creative, portions are huge. Lots of high protein options. Cute decor and attentive service. Was really pleased - will go back.

And not just Mexican food. The best food in Baton Rouge. I eat our every Saturday for a late lunch and I have become a regular at Mestizo's because of the food, atmosphere, and service. Keep up the good work. Fan for life.
