Great park close to Sioux Falls. Stayed in cabin C4, which was off by itself and really peaceful. Hiked over 6 miles, hammocked, and relaxed by the fire. Had a great time. Have been here dozens of times over 30+ years and will keep coming back!

One of our favorite state parks. Lots of neat trails, a suspension bridge and cool sites. In October they have a lantern lit night hike that is a lot of fun.

This is a nice campground. Coming from someone that does not camp and does not particularly enjoy being outside, that's a pretty nice compliment. The park is clean, clean, clean! And the bathrooms are too. That's huge in my book. If I were a camper, I would camp here.

Love a lot of things about this place and normally would give a 5 star review if not for today's experience.
The problem here is that you have to book ahead of time "so the staff can clean the cabins." Yet whenever I'm there, I see staff picking up sticks or cleaning bathrooms or talking to campers.
So how are there ZERO cabins out of EIGHT that are clean on a Tuesday? I'd be willing to bet some of these cabins have been empty since Saturday, yet there's nothing clean that you can rent out three days later? Maybe rearrange some priorities, because there's no doubt that you lost out on $40+ today and angered a regular camper, and for what? What have your staff been doing since the weekend??
I understand it might be slightly more inconvenient to have to take credit card info over the phone, but you've got to understand that some people don't have a set schedule until the DAY OF. I literally had to cancel a meeting this morning just so I could try to go camping on one of my few, random days off this summer; it's as much of a last minute decision for me as it is for you to accept the booking. Not to mention, people often don't know the weather until the day of, either. You've gotta be prepared for some last minute bookings!!

This park is near the South Dakota border of Minnesota and Iowa.
It's got a lot of clean decent camping spots and some camping cabins, my favorite. A few of the cabins are set in the trees so the feeling is more solitary, and other cabins are out in the middle of everything, I don't care to be out in the open, so I choose the ones hidden.
The swimming beach is nice, the water is a little murky, but it is a lake, not a pool, there are a few spots to cook near the beach, and a shower head to rinse off after swimming. Lots of parking near the beach, and just a couple hundred feet away is a dock for fishing, and opposite that is a dock for kayaks renting for $15, good deal. There is also a boat ramp near the beach.
The campground has all kinds of activities and games, just ask for a schedule, they have movies in the woods on a giant screen, surrounded by dense woods, it's an excellent place for kids, they have regular outdoor events like animal information and identifying classes and birding events.
All around one of the better deals for someone on a budget, like me. Be sure to seek out the observation tower and the trails near it! It will be a joy.
