Northside Hospital Behavioral Health Services

I took a loved one here to get a counseling and a medication management referral related to drug use and withdrawal. He ended up being involuntarily committed for a suicide watch and the drug use/withdrawal was not even addressed. Having worked in this field myself, I am horrified at the incompetence and tactics this place uses. I'm wondering if they have quotas- it's that bad. And quite a few staff members at the main hospital stated this was not an isolated incidence. Definitely- stay away. Once they write up a 1013 you and your loved one have NO recourse. It's despicable.

Never coming here again, the I.O.P. Is so negative and depressing, the women doing the I.O.P. Are rude and are no help, they put it in your head that u have an addiction when really you don’t, and they will send u to an suicidal watch for no reason, which is like mental jail!! Even after I told them my dog was at home alone the lady lied and said “you will have time to see what you can do with her” after I told them I have no one to watch her,my dog was alone for 10 days!!! And I wasn’t suicidal!!!! I also didn’t have no clue where they were taking me at all. WHY DO I HAVE TO BE FORECED TO GO TO AN AA MEETING WHEN I HAVE NO ADDICTION TO ALCOHOL!!! I just have anxiety for crying out loud! It’s better off just being an rehab facility.

This facility is geared to providing a low level of care to a large number of people who cannot afford better care. When I started going here both practitioners I saw more or less suggested that if I could afford to I should go elsewhere. I didn't, until I had a severe reaction to the medication the pyschiatrist placed me on. I called and spoke with a nurse, the psychiatrist could not even be bothered to speak with me himself. It's been over a month and I've still not heard a word from him. To make matters worse it now appears that they routinely overbilled me for services (I was billed after the fact for copay that I provided when I went in in person). I will never return to this facility.

These people refused to treat a loved one who needs their help after they were referred by the hospital. They told me to try google. Good luck to anyone who needs help.

What ever you do, whatever a Loved one does - Do Not Allow Northside Hospital Behavioral Health To Get Their meat hooks in you/them. If so. Abandon all hope. They’ll strip them of their rights, Refuse to communicate ANYTHING about their decisions concerning your loved ones “care”. Mostly they hold the person for 3 days then ship them off to another inpatient facility. The fact is they are way to ready to decree a person is a danger to themselves or others. With no talking to family members or family physicians. Quacks. Worse, they will strip you of all your rights and bound you over to another facility against your will - Without telling your family anything. Just unbelievable. I do not exaggerate. Stay away.
