O J's Diner

I've been twice, and I dig this little place. They recently renovated, which did wonders! Service was outstanding! That place is damn spotless. They properly clean tables. None of this wiping down only where you eat. They pick up the sugar, salt and pepper shakers, etc. and wipe under those as well. They are thorough and careful, and I DEEPLY appreciate that attention to cleanliness. That's how it should be done. Both times, my meals have been hot, fresh, and good. I got chipped beef last time, and I enjoyed that (my first time trying it). This time, I got the breakfast special number two. It wasn't perfect. The eggs weren't really scrambled (more like cracked in a skillet and left to cook), were dry, and needed salt. The hash browns also needed salt, but the texture was spot-on. The pancakes reminded me of McDonald's pancakes, which is not an insult. They were crazy fluffy. The sausage patty was huge and delicious. So, it was mostly a good meal with only minor complaints. Prices are a smidge high to me. It cost us $44 for three people (tip included), and for diner food in a small city, I expect about $5 less. But all in all, I'd go back.

We have been going to this restaurant for YEARS. Some of the staff has changed, but for the most part they are still all really nice. Tonight was the first time that we have been back to OJ's in a couple of years. The reason for that is that they have REALLY raised their prices on everything. Their food is great and there usually isn't a long wait time to receive it (except for maybe on Sunday's with the church crowds). The reason for only 4 stars is their bigger increase in prices and they could do better at paying attention to refilling drinks. The price you pay for a drink is only worth it if you get more than one glass and after 30 minutes of it sitting on the edge of the table and no one coming by, we gave up and left. 😞

The restaurant has been updated to be very clean and modern looking. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food is wonderful and appropriately priced. They serve large portions so you never leave hungry!
