My partner had Neighborhood Health Plan insurance and this was only only providers so he got his eye exam there. So they had a trainee do his exam and he could see perfectly during the exam. At the end when the trainee was writing up his prescription the doctor asked the trainee to change the prescription and trainee complied. Long story short got prescription filled twice at another Optical place, they verified the Rx and filled it third time. Finally went for another exam to another Dr. and received a different Rx and now he sees great. But in the end my partner has $700 worth of unusable glasses. Because you don't get your money back on glasses that were filled at a location that didn't provide the prescription as long as the glasses are filled to that prescription. So unless you're going to buy your glasses and have them filled there I wouldn't go there and if an eye doctor tells the one who's doing your exam to change your prescription you better ask yourself why did he do that.

For someone who has a lot of anxiety when it comes to going to the eye doctor based on bad experiences with previous offices, I LOVE LOVE LOVE OCEAN STATE EYE CARE! They are awesome! I always love my glasses and their staff is amazing. Melissa- the billing manager is always extremely pleasant and accommodating. I have been a patient there now for over two years and I couldn’t be happier

A warm sense of community and home as well as professionalism comes with Ocean State Eye Care. I am a new customer but I can already tell that this office is oozing with top quality service.
I purchased my new frames here, after not buying any for over 10 years, and they didn't rush me into any options and gave honest feedback about the styles I was trying. Not focused on the amount I was spending which was really a true judge of character on the staffs part. Payment was easy peezy and I truely felt as if I was part of the 'family'. The billing representatives were very sweet and treated me well. I will definitely continue to shop for my glasses here and enjoy the feeling of not being pressured or uncomfortable in this office. Thank you!!

Eye care and professionalism is just ok: My first visit was fraught with an air of dismissiveness; it was as if I was being told, "you need to earn your visit here."
Within a year I started shopping elsewhere after a billing fiasco accompanied by a very rude, immature billing representative who neglected to properly reflect our payment in full for services, rather resorting to odd statements over the phone including "I could get in trouble for this!" Get in trouble for what and why I wondered, when all we were trying to do was pay our bill. Despite my having asked the billing representative for copies of the receipt for payment in full, she proceeded to obstruct and refuse my request, restricting me to the option of picking up the receipt as an immediate resort. There seems to be a problem with proper record-keeping and professionalism at this office, so our decision to visit more accommodating and pleasant eye care professionals.

Excellent customer service!! I took my step-daughter in because her glasses got broken and she was leaving the next day on a mission trip. The woman helped her find frames that would fit her lenses. She was very helpful and kind. We were so thankful for all her help. Thanks again!
