My grandmother was here for 3 or 4 months, and our whole family was disappointed by Pine Lodge. Greedy, publicly traded (GEN) Genesis Healthcare doesn't hire enough staff. My grandmother had to wait for a half hour to hour before someone would come and help her go to the bathroom. One time the 98 year old lady in the other bed in the room had to help her because no nurses came. And this place was charging thousands of dollars a month for this. We had to get her out of there.

My mother has been at Pine Lodge for over a month. The experience can best be summarized by a simple fact, if a patient presses the emergency/call button the wait to a response normally ranged from 45 min to over an hour. I heard the statement "we are very understaffed" numerous times from several staff members, usually as an excuse for a performance issue. Their overall organization and professional follow through is lacking. A typical illustration, her therapist informed us that she was having stability problems and should only walk with the assistance of a walker. She was not issued a walker at the facility in the weeks following the evaluation. The therapist was correct… She had a fall due to her stability issues that he had referred to. A walker may have prevented the fall. After falling she was on the floor for over thirty minutes. She says she didn’t press the alarm because no one usually comes when she does! Yesterday my mother’s lunch was a BBQ sandwich with French fries. She is 86 and obese. That is not the type of meal she needs! Her phone service was non-functional for 4-5 days. They continually promised they would remedy the situation. We checked with them 1-2 times daily. For days, no one even followed through and checked the problem. It was eventually solved by a simple phone replacement. She missed several offsite medical appointments due to errors in scheduling at the facility. My mother states she was never actually visited by her assigned Primary care physician! The doctor had no communication with any family member even after repeated requests. When we checked her in to the facility we clearly indicated that she was not to be bothered with financial issues that her son with POA and medical POA would be responsible. His address was given as the billing address. A week ago, their billing office left an invoice for approximately $5000 on her bed table. She became very upset over finances when she saw it. They did apologize profusely. It was another error that should never have occurred. The staff is relatively polite and personable but their actual results and follow through on statements made is very poor. The list of problems described above is not comprehensive. One should certainly expect much better service for the over $400 a day they charge. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere
