Plan B Burger Bar

I have been a patron to Plan B for years and the burgers are usually very good. For some reason, my most recent visit was just off... the burger was just not what I remember it being. I still loved the food but I think something changed just enough to notice. The service was very friendly, the beer selection is excellent all the time (its the only bar in the area that I've seen Rogue Hazelnut Brown), and of course the whiskey/bourbon selection is sure to please any type of mood. The restaurant is located in an old New York, New Haven, Hartford railroad station dating back to the mid 1900's and is the classic NYNHH RR construction style that once dominated the region. The building is rich with history and the owners help keep this history alive while blending unique modern interior designs. The outdoor patio is a beautiful place to enjoy a meal or drink on a nice summer day. The restaurant is located on a very quiet street in town so there is almost no traffic to bother you while you enjoy your meal. Easily accessible from the main street in town, Plan B is a well known "hidden" gem. Make sure to come hungry as portions are a decent size and the menu changes frequently enough to keep your taste buds satisfies year round. The Blue Chips are a great starter to share, the burgers are usually very good, and the Mac and Jack is the best Mac and Cheese I've ever had from a restaurant.

excellent burgers and some of the best mac and cheese anywhere - try it with pulled pork! large selection of bourbon and bar staff is usually happy to offer help choosing one. reasonable prices for both food and drinks. servers never rush you, even if it's busy; very casual, laid back atmosphere. clean and well lit (though the parking area could stand another light or two). this location is also right by the bike trail.

Love Plan B! Always get the best of service, especially when Tom is on the case! The BEST bartender, so knowledgeable, great situational awareness, and a decent human being. Rock ON! Plan B!

I went there once, and the burger they brought out to me was substantially smaller than everyone else's around me. I brought this to their attention and was told they are all weighed the same. I insisted that they only need to LOOK at my burger with their eyes to see the difference. All the other burgers had the beef patty covering the bottom bun. But my burger had the patty much smaller than the bun. They did nothing to remedy this situation. So I refused the burger. About six months later I went there with a friend and described the experience to her. As I ordered, I mentioned to the waitresses my earlier disappointment. They then bring me out another undersized burger! I point this out immediately. The manager gets involved and assures me they are all weighed the same. Even as I compare it to my friends burger side by side. They just insist they are all the same. My friend even can't believe they refuse to see the glaring difference. Again. I refuse the burger. I only go there occasionally now to have a bourbon and tell the bartender how much their burgers suck. Update. My wife wanted to go here one day. She knows I don’t like the place. Our food comes out cold. We refuse the food and are not interested in waiting for the food to be made again. I’ve never been back.

Love this place, it's our date night go-to. Tons of great drinks. Amazing gluten free options including the fries!
