Portland Fish Market

So excited I found this place! I make sushi at home and have been search for a reliable sashimi provider. Great shop with fresh, high quality, beautiful options. The fish and chip window is great and often has a wait. Last night we bought some crab cakes, they were excellent. This will be my go-to fish supplier.

They are so low-key about being gluten-free that we almost missed it! They serve from a window, tables are outside, but the fish market around the corner welcomed us to sit inside. The fish was very fresh, and the best GF batter I've had. It isn't exactly like regular batter, but so close most people don't seem to realize they just ate gluten free. The price is high for "just take out" - but incredible for a GF freshly prepared meal.

We came here because of the rave reviews. We had fish and chips and were very disappointed. The people were nice and the bathroom was clean. But the fish was poorly trimmed and badly cooked. The cod had dark, fishy parts left on, and the batter was soggy. The chips were limp. I ended up eating about a quarter of it, but only because I was hungry. Alas, we won't be back.

Highest quality fish you will find in the city. Great selection of wild caught seafood. Family run and caught. Prices will be higher than supermarket fish but you can't compare them in terms of quality. Their fish n chip window it's good for a quick bite and often has special varieties available (rockfish, steelhead, salmon, etc).
