We had dinner: salmon, shrimp, gnocchi and duck dishes. All were really good. I had the hazelnut mushroom soup, really nice. Wild Berry cobbler was nice. Friendly service. We will certainly return. A cool spot too -

Chef Martin created a charming restaurant above a cozy bookstore. You enter the bookstore and climb the stairs and voila ... healthy delicious food. Try the Farro Risotto, Roasted Sweet Potato or Galangal Curry ...terrific.

Amazing. So fresh. If you're even thinking about going, go. We got the potstickers and the kale salad as appetizers and the gnocchi with duck and chicken dish and shared everything. Everything was great, super fresh and we left with that feel- good, full- belly feeling. Wish we had a place like this back home!

Of the Nutritarian Food Pyramid ideology, my wife and I were very optimistic about the bistro’s concept and menu design, and for the most part it didn’t disappoint. While not all the food ‘wow’d’ us, there were enough positive attributes about each dish that left us satisfied. Furthermore, knowing beforehand that all the ingredients were organic and which prioritized nutrient density, we were reassured from the get-go of what we were about to consume.
I for one had the Duck, which I felt the meat was perfectly prepared with a little redness and very tender. The apricot salsa on top complemented the flavors below it very well. I didn’t care for the gnocchi much, feeling it lacked flavor and contained some undesirable ingredients like flour and potatoes, if they prepared it similar to other common recipes that is. Some components of my wife’s dish had similar lackluster qualities as well, such as the stuffed mushrooms. We couldn’t figure out if the stuffing was polenta or something that looked and tasted just like it.
Of the desserts, the blueberry cobbler included coconut ice cream, which was a big plus for me since I don’t do well with dairy products. However, the seeds and berries were competing textures which felt really weird in the mouth. The maple ice cream was by far the best feature of the dish, whereas the other flavors kind of just blended together insignificantly. The pot de creme was much more endearing but with some lingering reluctance. The top layer berry compote was a nice addition, adding a very welcome tartness to the sweetness of the dark chocolate below it. The coconut cookie was a tad sweet, as was the chocolate creme itself, described as “very rich” by us both, though we couldn’t figure out where the sweetness was coming from, as the Nutritarian framework avoids added sugar to foods.
All in all, the restaurant is artistically situated on the second floor of a bookstore. The service, atmosphere, and presentation were all 5 stars. I would recommend this place and we may come again to experiment with other organic, nutrient dense dishes that have a high chance of achieving pleasing if not completely amazing satiety.
