Lobster roll is a must! The best! Also the clam chowder was excellent. The service was unbelievable the waitress served a group of 20 people with ease. She was great. Good vibes and great food. I will definitely be going back!

My lobster roll was fantastic. And, I didn't order french fries, but I stole from others at the table, and they were wonderful. If there was any complaint, it would be that there was so much lobster on my roll that I had a hard time fitting it in my mouth. But I guess that isn't really a complaint. Can there ever be to much lobster?

I had their famous seafood chowder (clam chowder not available)... Best I ever had. Also had a large Lobster Roll... My first one. Tonnes of lobster meat. It is a cold dish, and was very good. It was be better if they had a selection of great bread to change from. Most American bread is horrible. Most should order the smaller size... Plenty of lobster for most people with the small size. Nice waterfront location. Great service. I'm sure in high season it will be VERY crowded... reservations suggested then.

If you’re looking for a casual date night spot with great food by the water, River House is THE place to go.
We went to see how long a table for two would take at 8pm on a Saturday night and it was a 45 minute wait, so I’d highly recommend calling in for a reservation. We put our name down and started walking around, but was texted that out table was ready 30 minutes later.
After sitting down, we ordered the calamari, seafood chowder, and the seafood linguini. All were fantastic. Since I wasn’t feeling a whole meal, I wanted to eat a big crock or chowder and fries. Boy was I stuffed... so depending on how hungry you are and with apps, I should have ordered the 8oz instead. The chowder itself was flavorful, thick, and had plenty of seafood in it from shrimp, scallops, and clams.

Excellent food and drinks right on the water.
I've been to Portsmouth a few times and eat here as much as I can. Everything I've had has been great, and the atmosphere is exactly what you'd want from a restaurant overlooking the harbor.
The lobster roll is outrageous, and the chowder deserves all the awards it's won, and then some. It's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu here.
Recommended: lobster roll, seafood chowder.
