Robata Maplewood

Decent food. Absolutely terrible service. You may not get eating utensils, your drink may never be refilled, your food may not come out until your entire party has completely finished their meals, even though you ordered at the same time. Your server may rudely interrupt your conversations, casually expressing profanities and bitching about his job, all the while giving you the worst service you could get. If you choose to try this place, get your food to go, or don't bother at all.

Great flavor and service. I sat at the bar and was served by someone that seemed to be the owner. I asked him to tell me what his favorite items are. He marked them off and I tried a few of them and did not regret it. Quick service, good flavors, fish was cut well, rolls were a good size. Everything was priced well.

So. I am a fan of sushi. At least, I thought I was. I found out at Robata what kind of sushi I've been missing. Great quality, at a great price, with really nice atmosphere (if a little cozy), and fantastic service to cap it all off. My wife also had Bar B Que Don, which was also phenomenal. To recognize our server in particular, Emily was very helpful and a pleasure to have. Currently counting the days until we go back.

It's a small space, which I tried to see as cozy rather than claustrophobic. The waitress was great. I didn't like my curry, but I have tried Japanese curry elsewhere and didn't like it, so that's more me. My boyfriend loved his ramen! We'll go back- there are other things to try.

The food is great. The noodle bowls are very good and they have a great selection of beer. Only down side is it is very small so there isn't a lot of personal space and once it fills up you have to wait a long time. But other that I would suggest this place for someone who wants to try something new.
