South Gate Parks & Recreation Department

My parents took us to this park when we were kids. I took my kid recently and it brought up some fun memories. They totally renovated! There's a lot of new stuff for the kids. It's awesome and it's much cleaner and organized now.

There's a few different sides of the park that are clean and dirty. Overall I would not recommend bringing your children here to play when there's plenty of trash all over the park. Now this is not Parks and Recreations fault but the community itself. The community lacks discipline when dumping trash. A lot of the community ends up throwing trash on the floor and not the dumpster. In addition, the people renting out tables to throw baby showers, parties, and excetera don't have morals when it comes down to picking up after themselves. I've seen some pretty disturbing trash all over. I would not bring my children here. Also, I wouldn't not hang around at night. There's a bunch of crackheads lurking around and Winos.

Very clean park and has a little of everything to do so everyone can have fun: basketball courts, tennis courts, playground with swings and rock climbing for the kids, soccer fields, Goals, baseball/ softball fields, batting cages, I believe golf course too(?) And, other things are available too but with a fee: indoor pool, weight room, basketball courts, etc And the park's size is perfect for a good run/ jog There's a snack bar too

I have signed up and taken my kids to the classes here. They’ve done ballet, guitar, baseball fundamentals. They love it and I love that they can be busy and it doesn’t cost nearly as much as a private facility. You also get to know of all the events South Gate has to offer, which is many.
