We sat in front of the fireplace and ordered drinks. The nuts are addicting and plentiful.

It is not always easy to find a restaurant that is open super early on weekends, that is more than a café. One good option is to look for a restaurant nestled inside a hotel, since most of them are open from early hours for their guests. And, most of the restaurants are open for public as well, you don’t have to be staying at the hotel to be able to dine there. I found a restaurant inside JW Marriott Essex House New York, right across from the Central Park.
The inside was really big, with high ceiling and lots of natural light coming in from their large windows that goes from floor to ceiling.
Just like many hotel restaurants, they offer breakfast buffet. Our server told us that we can go take a look if we want, or we can order from their set menu. We went to take a peak at the buffet, but we decided to order from their breakfast menu instead.
For food, we ordered Croque Madame, Brioche French Toast, and The Farmer’s Omelet. We enjoyed the breakfast, it was super filling, the portion was really big which was surprising. We were all very stuffed and satisfied. Our server was great, he took a good care of us. He was polite, friendly and very helpful. I never make reviews, but I was so compelled to warn potential customers. This place was HORRENDOUS. Our mistake was we did not read the prior reviews. Warning to anyone considering this place, the photos online and menu description was deceiving. Photos drew us in as chic-contemporary. Upon arrival, tables had paper napkin settings, bright lights, music playing loud 80's soft rock, and dining area was empty. This was an early sign to LEAVE. BUT WE STAYED because we were affraid there would be no avail tables at 8pm in the area. We ordered steak sliders (a frozen food option would have had more flavor), ceasar chx kale salad (drowned in creamy dressing, the chicken was not fresh, and had the artificial looking grill marks ), the ramen noodle soup was cold and lacked flavor (contained the chicken with the artificial looking grill marks again, ramen noodles were nostalgic of the college budget of the packaged store bought ramen buy 3 for $1), and finally their pasta special of the night was vomit inducing and would have gone to any Italian chain restaurant like an olive garden (which I hardly do) for better flavor and execution. SAVE YOUR NIGHT OUT, SAVE YOUR $$$$$ MONEY, and AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT/REGRET. This was so disappointing. This place was over over over priced for the low quality food sourcing, horrible food execution/preparation, low budget ambiance, and mediocre waitstaff. Shame on you restaurant management and JW Marriott!!
