Temple Bar American Bistro

The food was great, and the customer service was even better; we sent back a dish that wasn't cooked properly and they gave us back a fresh dish and did not charge us for it. It's a mid-range cost, so good for celebrating special events like birthdays. It's not too noisy, but your party can enjoy themselves, as it has a great ambience.

We were at Porter Square in Cambridge last Sunday, May 20 when we happened to go by Temple Bar and decided to give it a whirl. It was busy and lively inside for a Sunday evening, and that was a good sign. I ordered the Green Circle chicken served with wild mushooms, potatoes and pan jus. It was phenomenal, reminded me of this chicken I had in Grenoble, France. This dish was simple, yet delicious and filling. There were so many interesting flavors to please even the most discriminating taste buds. The wild mushrooms were just scrumptious, a perfect accompaniment to this dish. My boyfriend ordered the Bronzini, I believe it was a Sea Bass served with couscous. This dish was light and delicious. I loved the fluffy, yet moist and tasty couscous. The Bass was grilled to perfection, and bursting with flavor. For dessert we had the Apple Financier served with candied almonds and vanilla ice cream. This dessert is served with three small moist and delicious mini cakes. It's a light dessert that can be shared, but we didn't. It was too good to share.

For some reason we had never eaten here, even though we drive by it several times a week. We finally went, and everything was better than we were told. The food was creative and beautifully presented, and our server was very knowledgeable about the ingredients in every dish. In sum, dining out the way it is supposed to be.

My neighborhood brunch spot. Always delicious, good ambiance, nice cocktails. Not exactly unique, but after 5 years as a patron I can safely say you'll never go wrong here.
