Tennessee Department of Human Services for Sullivan County - Bristol/Blountville Office

I have called numerous of times to this office that's supposedly open Monday-Friday from 8am- 4:30pm yet nobody can answer the phone!! So I've left several messages but no return call. Guess the government likes paying people for not doing their jobs and just sitting on their rumps!! Must be nice lol.

No one answers the phone no matter what time if day you call. I turned my papera in like I was suppise to and worker didnt call. This caused my food stamps to cancel and me to have to make numerous trips and take time off work. It took over a month to get straightens out and my family including 3 kids depend on this benefit

I cant get the case worker I was assigned to answer or return a call. I applied for snap benefits in Sept . I was approved for emergency benefits. She explained what documents I needed to bring. I returned the documents in 3 days. I was approved for 2 weeks worth of assistance in Sept and was told the amount I would get starting in Oct. Yet I recieved nothing! I started calling my case worker, the office, and leaving messages for both my worker and dhs office. Ive recieved no return calls. Ive went to the office 2 different times and they say our benefits are being processed and it should only take a day or 2. I have left countless messages explaining to my caseworker that I did not receive my benefits and asking if she needs anything else from me and she will not respond by letter or phonecall. She did have time to update her recording on her voicemail to inform me she will be out of the office from the 13th to the 23rd. So she won't be able to assist anyone until she returms. Meanwhile someone who hasn't recieved food stamps in a very long time desperately needs them and has needed them for months now. I have 2 kids at home and shouldn't have to worry how im going to feed them their next meal. Im going down there Monday (again) and that makes 3 weeks I've went without benefits after being approved Sept 12 for "emergency" benefit &normal benfits starting Oct. It's hard with no income other than money for rent& bills, to take money out of rent to buy groceries. My teenage son is hungry constantly. I believe this should be looked into. Government employees are being paid to do a job they arent doing and letting some kids go hungry simply because they didn't take care of something at the office. I'd get fired if I didn't complete my task at work. This is crazy.

Horrible experience!! Call and call no answer....skipped an entire month of benefits. Impossible to get hold of an operator muchless your case worker. Its like every single worker there is always busy at the same time. Ive been in the office they hold conversations with each other while phone is ringing and even had one woman at the front answer her cell phone while working with me. No concern or respect for the people coming in needing help.
