The American Club

How anyone could give this place less than 5 stars, I'll never know. It is one of the most memorable hotels we've stayed at in the US. Very elegant and cozy. The staff is the complete opposite of uptight! They are all so very sweet and accommodating. We had a corner suite (room 154) with plenty of room for us and our baby. The jacuzzi tub and steam shower surrounded by marble was a nice touch. We had our own vanities and sinks too! Every single restaurant is great--excellent food choices for indulgent behavior as well as super healthy & clean. The grounds are beautiful, especially with the Green Room where thy serve tea in the middle of a garden inside a glass room. I'd love to come back again!

My wife and I took our three kids to Easter Brunch in the Kohler Great Hall. It was very well done. The kids loved the ice sculpture, the chef's french toast bar, and the desert buffet. The prime rib was perfectly cooked and my wife really enjoyed the carving ham. Only points that weren't met were my comparison when my parents took me when I was my kids age (7-10). That was 30 years ago so times change. Back then there were 5-6 ice sculptures (versus one) and they were making homemade orange juice (versus from the kitchen). I would still highly recommend it. We walked through the Hall of America (buffet in that room as well). That is a beautiful venue.

A rare chance to enjoy brunch in the Immigrants room. Surrounded by rock walls in the ambiance of the wine cellar. Beautifully prepared bites, pastries and full breakfast menu items. Everyone went out of their way to be attentive and ensure we had a lovely time.

Not happy about the service at all. The hotel is quite neat, an huge old style mansion, beautiful chandeliers, a lot of hallways and rooms, old photographs on the wall. We usually enjoy this style a lot! However despite nice atmosphere, the service does not match the price category. We arrived at 2pm, were told that they usually check in at 4pm (that late!?), but our room would be ready way before that. However, it wasn't ready until we finally complained shortly before 4pm! The banquet we were attending was at 5pm so hardly any time to get ready. Have never been to a luxury hotel before where they don't check you in right away! And then all the excuses at the service desk - we had a large group last night, it takes one hour to clean a room etc. Hire more maids, that's what people pay for. Our experience was definitely spoiled, and it could have been amazing!

Very nice, but old. Kinda rustic, but very elegant. Kohler high end bathroom and clean rooms. Would for sure come back and hopefully the construction will be over.
