The Wellwood

Perfect local seafood restaurant. Menu was great... Good selection. Maryland crab soup was excellent. Dining room is comfortable and the bar area felt like a neighborhood bar. Will definitely return.

I’ve been to the Wellwood a good number of times and I’ve never had anything bad. They have crabs all year round. My family usually gets the all you can eat crabs that comes along with all you can eat chicken and hush puppies. The crabs are pretty heavy and the hush puppies are addicting to eat. The service is good for how busy they get in the summer along with live bands that play outside.

Found this place while looking for food along our route from NJ to DC. It was sooooo worth the detour. Great hospitality, good local, fresh food, unpretentious atmosphere. The hubby enjoyed the all you can eat crabs, chicken and fries. I had the bisque, steamed shrimp and fired oysters. The breading on the oysters was bit heavy but, it wasn’t a deal breaker. We’ll definitely find another reason to come back. Oh! And they were gracious enough to turn on the Final Four so I could watch Michigan vs. Loyola. A+

While the service was a little slow, but nice, the crabs and fried chicken were phenomenal. Another person in our group ordered jambalaya and they were very pleased. Can't wait to go back and get the all you can eat crabs and chicken (best chicken I've ever had).

The server was very busy, but still gave excellent service. The crabs were well seasoned and tasted great. Would definitely go back.
