Positive: Great food and very reasonable prices. Laotian restaurants are unusual so you can try something new and intriguing. This is an excellent place to go with friends because you can order family-style and share several dishes. Negative: It's pretty loud.

Wow - overall, what a great experience. The ambiance is awesome. The food is great in both taste and value. The dishes are VERY reasonably priced. I had a hard time deciding because there are so many great options on the menu. The service was on point. The restaurant also offers a great happy hour at the bar. I would recommend showing up early if possibly. There are no reservations. We showed up right as the place opened. Things fill up quickly. I will defiantly be going back.

I agree with another reviewer from 3 weeks ago. The only thing that kept me from giving it a higher rating is also due to the food being too salty. I was a little disappointed with that. Either too much sauce to make it too sweet or too salty. The service was great though and the noodle soup was on point. I did have to scoop out some of the minced pork that was drenched in this salty sauce bc it was too salty.

I went to Thip Khao recently as I thought it would be a fun experience, since I have never tried Laotian cuisine before. I decided to visit with some friends, we were all very excited, especially when we found out that it was mentioned in the Michelin guide. We got several appetizers and entrees to try. One of the noodle dishes had a strand of hair mixed in it. When we brought it to our server’s attention, he insisted that it was part of the dish (from some herbs) and that there was nothing he could do about it. When we asked to speak with a manager, it took a long time for the manager to arrive. When the manager arrived, he failed to identify himself and failed to rectify the issue. He gave the same story that the server provided. Aside from the hair, rest of the dishes were mediocre at best. Most of the dish were over-salted and lacked flavor. With that kind of service and leadership, along with displeasing food, they can definitely count me out as a customer.

Get on it! Where have you been? Well regarded Laotian food with a wide variety of things you'll recognize alongside more exotic fare. Good prices, wait times typically not too bad (though still very popular, for good reason), and a whiskey selection that's not too shabby as well.
