Tujague's Restaurant
"Tujague's is the second oldest, continually running restaurant in New Orleans. This French Quarter institution has been serving traditional New Orleans cuisine to locals and visitors alike for more than 160 years. Menu items such as the Gulf Fish Pontchartrain and the Creole Turtle Soup meld French traditions with New Orleans fare and flare. Tujague's famous five course menu is still served nightly; but have no fear, the menu is no longer pre-fixe, so those less ravenous diners can join in too. If you want a quintessential New Orleans experience filled with history and local fare, Tujague's is your place."

I’m so glad that I tried this place while visiting Nola. I only felt it was right given how long it has been around and it surely didn’t disappoint. You can’t go wrong with whatever you get here, but my highlights of the meal were surely the shrimp and grits as well as the bread pudding. The grits were soft and flaky that reminded me of a whipped mashed potato consistency. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the sauce was to die for. Had a little sweetness that brought the dish all together so perfectly. I was expecting something heavy but it was light, savory with a little sweet. The bread pudding was so yummy that I basically ended up eating it all myself and not sharing. If you’re looking to try something that truly embodies Nola than look no further, it’s worth every penny.
Fast and friendly service. We got bread pudding, pork belly, butter garlic noodles, and crab cakes. Most of the food was pretty good. However, the butter noodles needed salt and could have been mixed more. Most of the sauce was clumped on top.
We were in New Orleans, LA for a boys only trip and were celebrating a friend’s birthday. We selected Tujague’s after going through the reviews and were treated with delicious and sumptuous food. All the items that we ordered were mouth watering and full of taste. Loved being there and they also gave us a complimentary dessert for celebrating the occasion. A must eat place if you’re in NOLA.
Let me say my meal was great! I had the Eggs Madison. However my husband hated thus restaurant. They sat us under one of their vents and the condensation kept falling on my husband. He ordered the Benedict and found an egg shell in his meal and the eggs in his meal tasted like dawn soap. Other than the bad experience with food, the service was great and the atmosphere was beautifully detailed. ENJOY THE PHOTOS!
Recently at Tujague’s for my birthday dinner and it was great!. From the moment we walked in the staff made our visit a lovely experience. The hosts were welcoming and prompt. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. We ordered off the Coolinary menu which was a 3 course meal for $45 each. I had the gulf seafood vol-au-vent, the surf and turf, and the bourbon peach cheesecake for dessert. Our waiter was very accommodating for all our photo requests I enjoyed every part of our meal and I will come back!
We found this gem while Searching for a place in NOLA for Thanksgiving, and it did not disappoint! It was a fixe menu, and each option was heavenly, from the delectable oyster and aubergine soup, to the traditional Thanksgiving fare, and the scrumptious sweet potato bread pudding with praline sauce. The servers were kind and quick, and damn was this place packed! Clearly not a hidden gem, but a gem nonetheless.
Beautiful restaurant. The courtyard was definitely more casual than the interior dining. Would be a good place for an anniversary dinner. The food was very good but rich, and should have more vegetables as a side to balance out.Food: 4/5
Just ate with GIL as our server and everything from the food to the service and even the atmosphere in the new location was top notch! Service- Huge shout out to Gil from on NOLA upscale/fine dining server to another as he was friendly, attentive with out over being over bearing, and knowledgeable. I will have anyone I recommend go here to ask for him! Food- Started with the pork belly which my Indian husband who usually steers away from even loved, then wedge salad for me and the roasted tomato basil soup for him. The soup was more chunky than most tomato basil's I have had but it was so good! For our entrées we split the ribeye with shrimp medium rare of course! and the Gulf Fish which was red snapper topped with some sort of a crab sauce ?or something with potatoes on side. New location- was done very well. With the reputation and notoriety Tujague's has being the second oldest restaurant in NOLA, it was probably nerve wracking making the decision to move, but it was the right choice! It still has the classic old school New Orleans feel! Everything was great and we can't wait to return soon!
We had the most excellent meal and service! Pat and Bret took great care of us! We even got a little lagniappe with our dessert! A great experience from start to finish!
Fantastic dinner out for my wife’s birthday! Food is all amazing, with a fun and attentive staff. Make sure to get The Grasshopper cocktail- invented here!
