Uncommon Grounds

The food wasn't bad, but nothing amazing either. It's diner food, a good start to any weekend morning. The reason for the bad review is because of the service. We had shown up to have breakfast with some friends who we hadn't seen in a long time, so we were enjoying our visit catching up with them over food, checking out a place that reviews said was a great breakfast spot. Shortly after we had signed for the check, they were aggressively cleaning the table while we were still sitting and even told us "[we] had been there for 52 minutes and there is a 40 minute timer on each table. There is a family waiting to eat." I'm not one to loiter because I understand it's a business, but I have never been asked to leave any restaurant before, let alone in such a passive aggressive manner. I would also be embarrassed to be the family who was waiting if I witnessed how the people at my table-to-be were treated. I ask that anyone who reads this go and look at the manager's response to other 1-star reviews as well. Making the customers happy is not the priority at this venue.

Refused seating after being told it would be "a couple minutes to clean a table" while there were four or five open tables in view. Apparently this was because the chef is a crazy person, according to the wait staff. Would love to try the food, and be more than happy to upgrade the rating if given the chance, but our only experience with this place was wildly unprofessional. Whatever the disagreement between kitchen and wait staff, please sort it out and don't let it affect your customers. Edit: While I have still not eaten at this restaurant, the owner (or whoever manages this page) seems to be taking a more diplomatic approach to customer (or aspiring customer, in my case) complaints. I'm planning to try again because by most accounts the food is quite good and it looks like the management is trying to bring every aspect of the restaurant to five stars. To the owner: Thank you for removing the original reply to this review. I'll be coming to the restaurant and will update the review to reflect the new experience. Thank you.

Wow! Traveled for a week in NYC and Boston, and this was the best breakfast of the whole trip. The pancakes we're huge, delicious and the right mix of hearty and sweet. The potatoes were excellent and the service was very good. Huge thumbs up for this no frills, all delicious food diner.

My girfriend and I eat here very often. The bald guy, I think his name is Mike usually takes great care of us. The food is perfect, fresh and always consistently great. Never had a bad meal. The corn beef hash is outstanding!!! Shout out to Julio, the best dish washer!

Good food. Friendly service. Decent price. Food is higher end than typical diner food. The service is always friendly, but they do get busy on weekends. You can put in your name and they will text you, but you can't call ahead. Price is good for the area.
