Reviews
Was pulled over tonight by J. Hardee. Badge A10. Absolutely horrible customer service experience. I called into dispatch, he said he didn't care and hung up! See below for details! I'm hoping my voice will be heard. BTW, I left a 5 star review for Orem Police. If you're thinking of getting hired or creating any type of relationship with UVU Police - or - if you plan on going to UVU, just know, their Police Dept. is very shady. I own and manage a business, whatever that means to you. I have taken the time to create sections in my review of the different problems I had with them tonight.
DISREGARD FOR SAFETY
The first thing that upset me about the interaction was that he flipped on his lights immediately after I turned onto a road with no shoulder. I traveled for about 20 seconds and then just pulled to the curb. Now we're blocking a lane of travel. This makes me nervous. No regard for mine or his safety.
BLINDS ME
He purposely positioned his high power LED spot light to shine as much towards my window as possible. Literally blinding me. I could not see anything. It hurt bad.
INVASIVE AND MAKES ME FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE
He starts asking me all of this questions. Probably because I'm young and I'm driving at 2:30am. I'm the only one on the road. He's bored. He asked at least 3-4 times, have you been drinking, will you do road tests for me? How come your insurance card is 3 days expired? Do you not have insurance. I did nothing wrong except flip a u turn in a legal area, and he has beef to pick.
I told him I would not do any road tests, if he wanted to detain me and take me to county jail, I'll do tests there as required by law. I wasn't going to do anything I'm not legally required to do. Those tests take 30-40 minutes. AND they have to call down a second officer as witness. I wanted to go to sleep. He ended up giving me tickets for every little thing he could find. He walked around the and wrote me for things like "no registration card in vehicle" and "no proof of insurance" even though I did.
SHADY AND RUDE
After the interaction, I felt, as a consumer of the police system, it made me feel uncomfortable im every way. I called in to dispatch to get his supervisors name and complain.
I was talking to the dispatch guy, telling him how uncomfortable I felt and asked who this guy's supervisor was and what the officers badge # was. Then I asked the dispatcher for his batch number and his name. He said "I'm not going to give you my name, but my badge number is A12." So I explained to him how shady that seemed to me and how poor of customer service that is. He replied, "When the supervisor calls you back tomorrow, he will give you all this information, you don't need it from me." Told him, ok, you're being rude and cryptic. That doesn't sit well with me. You're being very defensive with me, and I'm being very polite.
I explained to him that based in my interaction, I'm compelled to write a bad review, but I'd like to talk about this first, before I go do that. He said, "I don't care about your bad review. Go write one. I'm done with this conversation." And he hung up!
UPDATE: Just found this article. 50 year old UVU teacher put in handcuffs and thrown on the ground for making a correction to a map. Because the map was upside-down. Google "uvu teacher arrested." Google won't let me post a link here.
