Murray Police Department

My husband and I just had a terrible experience with a police officer. I cannot speak for all of the officers in this department, but the one we came across was one of the rudest, most inconsiderate people I have ever met. Driving through an intersection we saw a car stopped, possibly stalled, and a cop car driving toward her as if to help. We waited to see what we should do and the cop motioned his finger for us to go around, so we started to go around. As we drove past him, he rolled his window down and started yelling at the top of his lungs at us to turn around, like we were supposed to KNOW that. He repeatedly yelled at us for a solid 15 seconds while my husband and I just stared in shock and our baby started crying in the back seat. We felt belittled, disrespected and about the farthest thing from “safe and protected” that we could. It was a simple matter of confusion and all that needed to happen was for him to POLITELY and RESPECTFULLY ask us to turn around. When did cops become so intent on scaring and intimidating instead of caring and protecting the people? I WANT to support the police in our country, I really want to, but they sure make it hard to have any respect for them.

Complete and blatant disregard for individuals safety, or security. They'd rather hunt down the people with the largest warrants at the expense of any guilty parties Family or Friends. Consistently harassing, and interrogating while trying to hide out in back neighborhoods to entrap their targets. Use constant bully tactics to get what they want without care for any persons privacy. Worst department I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. They even have the gall to smart-mouth some individuals in order arrest someone for a "Failure to co-operate" charge.

I have had many problems with vagrants in our area that were stealing items from garages and drug deals going on. they have been prompt to respond and always have followed through. I live in a growing area of Murray and it's nice to know they are there when my spouse and I call.

You have a staff member by the name of Stephanie Ritter who per her FB page is employed there and works with children has said some very disturbing and racist comments about minorities. I suggest you reprimand this individual or better yet fire her. A person with hate for people of color shouldn't be around vulnerable citizen who she may potentially hurt or abuse.

Some random police officer went above and beyond to get my car towed from my apartment complex, thinking he's doing some kind of favor. Nice going hero. It's obvious this department is trash, majority of reviews would agree. Do something important, save some lives or protect some people. Do yourself a favor and quit. The officer couldn't even own up to it and tell me his name... stay ashamed and embarrassed.
