Waxy's

This fantastic pub is the perfect example of a hole-in-the-wall gem. Wonderful atmosphere right on the river, hidden under the street, watching the boats go by. The personnel was wonderful, very helpful in making food and drink selections. And the food!! I have a huge love for bar/pub food, but Waxy’s beats them all. The ribs fell off the bone, the shrimp were life changing, and the fries were excellent. I can’t wait to go back and try everything on their menu. I’m from out of town, but this will definitely be a regular stop for me when I come to town.

Great place! Been a few times and love it each time. Went there on St. Patty's day and that was by far the best however each time we go it's a blast. Good people, good music, and good food!

Love this place! I eat here no less than once a week. Best bangers and mash in town, no question. They also give a discount to people who work downtown. They have daily lunch specials, all of which are great and very affordable, but get the bangers and mash.... Trust me.

Atmosphere was good, service was great not super friendly but I was asked plenty of times if I had been served which was awesome BUT I ordered fried shrimp and brown bread instead of fries to go.. got to my hotel room and they gave me 5 shrimp and two pieces of bread for $18. I was scouting good places for the folks and I to eat at the rest of our trip and i will not be bringing them here. Idk if it was a joke or what but this is ridiculous. I also asked them to keep the sauce and slaw as i wouldn't eat it and it would go to waste. On top of that the shrimp were mostly breading and dry. Nice place to stop and get a drink but would not recommend the food.

My wife and I stopped here for a late afternoon meal. We were seated quickly and we're right by the river. We ordered the Fish and Chips, and Shepherds Pie, good pub food. The Smithwicks was cold and tasty. Our server Hollie took great care of us, making sure everything tasted right, and checked on us often if we needed anything. It was a nice dining experience, and a felt like a good Irish Pub.
