White Oak of Waxhaw

Very nice facility, very clean, very diverse staff of nursing, technician, wound care, case worker, therapy, etc. I wanted to love the place because they have all the ingredients for success and all the right equipment for care, good rooms and environment. Some very nice staff and some very engaging staff....my greatest disappointment corresponding to the poor rating was the lack of compassion and engagement from some of the nursing staff that was just going through the motions of work and no attention to personal care. A change in attitude by those just showing up each day could have this facility at the top of the list in south Charlotte area. If your needs are for a relatively independent person that is more of a resident than as a patient in can be a good option. A major drawback is the dietician and kitchen that do not offer customized food preparation based on medical dietary needs, “you get what we serve” mentality that may not be good for diabetics or folks requiring low sugar options for breads, puddings, drinks (other than water), potato and starches, rice, etc. Mediterranean meal options would be a great consideration for this facility. Lots of formalities and process (all necessary and good) but a little more consideration to occupants as individual people at a personal level and this facility could hit 4 or 5 stars.

SLOW to respond. Days before case worker or dietitian came. Bloody laundry left in room for days. Wait an hour for water. Another resident waiting in shower for an hour. Nurses appeared apathetic couldn't be bothered. Wound care not sanitary. Appears clean and cheery on initial visit. What you see is not what you get. Not a place l would want a loved one to be. Try somewhere else.
