Willow Creek Environmental Campground

It's already been said down below but this place is perfect. The amount of wildlife I saw while camping over a weekend stay rivals any other outdoor experience I've had. If you have a kayak, this is the perfect location to go too. Access was a little tricky but we saw someone with a great life hack of using a dolly to transport their camp bins. Pack in and Pack out your trash is the norm in this location but everything else was just perfect.

Great being close to the river aND the camp grounds have privacy.

You can camp right on the river here you have to walk in from the parking lot and thats ok. The last time my sister came here she saw a mountain lion right across the river, so keep your pets and small kids close. Not at all unusual to see Eagles blue herons and seals here too. Not usually crowded, this is a great primitive campground on the Russian River.

A real nice option for those looking to do a little more remote style camping than the main RV filled campground at Sonoma coast state Park. Takes a little effort to lug all your gear in but the spots are well spaced and right along the Russian River. Only downside is the $25 fee which seems pretty steep for what you're getting...
