Very nice, super maintained campground. Easy to set up at as most campsites are on mowed lawn. Only not 5 stars because I prefer more rustic camping; but I will definitely stay here again when visiting Point Reyes National Sea Shore.
Free showers, friendly staff, nice and quiet at night.

We decided to bring our chocolate lab since this place is dog friendly. What a mistake! The RV spots are facing each other so we were face to face with our neighbors and their 3 dogs. We don't bring our dog on many trips so we knew we would need to work with him. We tried walking him to tire him out but the park is in a clover type pattern and there is no where to walk as everything is pretty much a dead end full of barking dogs. We tried to walk the street but it's highway 1 and has very little shoulder. We ended up having to keep him in the RV most of the weekend. I wouldn't come back again because of the lack of privacy. All the spots should be pull in or back in instead of alternating!

Overpriced. About $60/ night and you don't even get full hookups. Dumpster overflowing. Bathrooms were dirty most of the time we were there. Too many people sharing the bathhouse. Showers were NOT private. Had 1 common dressing area for 3 stalls.
Gets 2 stars because the spots had some shade with decent amount of room. It was also only a little over an hour to downtown San Francisco and even closer to Muir Woods, but I would never return.

The morning we were scheduled to come in the whole park flooded. We had called every other park in the San Francisco area and there was nothing. The lady in the office was awesome and got us in another spot for 2 nights while the one we reserved cleared up. The spot J8 we stayed in had a lot of trees and was really nice. Although the whole park was muddy and damp, it just seems as though it rains a lot there. Other people may say its pricey but in comparison to other parks in the San Francisco area its reasonable. Did not use the restrooms but the laundry room was clean and had huge dryers which were well priced.

I've been camping at Olema for over 20 years now and it's still a great spot. As part of a national forest, it is protected against deforestation and other unsightly changes that occur at many campgrounds. It is a great place for kids, groups, reunions or just quiet get aways.
Dogs on leashes are welcome. There are cats, fox, possum, raccoons and crows in the area. A small creek runs along side of the camp ground and there is a small playground and a dog park.
Olema is well-kept and maintained buy an ever busy staff on golf carts. The bathrooms and showers are cleaned daily and are distributed throughout the campground. They have full RV hookups, as well as tent sites. They also have a dump station for those who need it, firewood and a few other items at their office/store. Each campsite has a fire pit and a picnic table.
During the summer they have a live storyteller at the campfire on the weekends. A great time for adults and children. On major holidays they have a pony ride, sometimes a hayride, and a few other extras.
In years past, prior owners had many activities that many of us still miss, like ice cream socials, Mardi Gras parades, Hawaiian luaus, arts and crafts for the kids, pancake breakfasts. While it's still a great Campground, we often hope for the return of some of the more family centered activities.
The campground is situated 20 minutes east of the coast, so it's an easy drive out to the beaches. The town of Point Reyes station is 2 miles away and is full of quaint shops, dining options, deli, a grocery store, post office, bank and a bar.
At the end of summer there is the annual Sandcastle competition at Drakes Bay, which is a very fun event to participate in or just go to be a spectator.
One of my favorite things to do while camped at Olema, is to go less than a mile away to the point reyes trailheads where you can take one of a half-dozen hikes, all of them beautiful. The Arch Rock hike out to the ocean is one of my favorite hikes of all time, even after doing it a hundred times.
This is a popular Campground for travelers far and wide, so it would be very wise to make your reservations as far as in advance as possible.
