Well first of all the map route is wrong. It takes you to the top of the levee across the field from the home. Aside from that the site is closed and while it’s a beautiful and interesting home you can’t tour it at present. PS: Apple Maps has it wrong too, but at least their route does go by the home.

It is a shame it is not open full time anymore. It is a beautiful site. I understand budget cuts. In sure it does not make the money the parks in the more populated areas make. But this rural area has so few public historical places. The state is going to maintain the place, is it really that much more to staff it?

Save yourself the trouble. The house is closed. You can't even drive down the road to see the outside of the house. Everything is Posted No Trespassing!
