ACME Screening Room

About

Independent and documentary films, every weekend, plus meet-the-Director Q&A's, and post-film Supper Clubs.

Description

The ACME Screening Room is a non-profit weekly independent and documentary film series founded by Friends of Lambertville Library in 2008. The series regularly features guest speakers (authors, directors, activists), post-film discussion programs and/or exhibitions held in conjunction with a film. Our programs bring the world of film to life for our audience members and create a space to thoughtfully reflect on films by artists at all levels: from local filmmakers to nationally recognized professionals.

Films are screened using a state-of-the-art digital projection and a 5.1 surround sound system, paid for and provided by the City of Lambertville. All donations to Friends of Lambertville Library for the ACME program are tax-deductible.

Great theater with an eclectic selection of films, and quirky choices. So watch for what they're playing before you missed it. The staff is really nice too.
Thoughtfully curated selection of indie films, offered in a relaxed setting. Some shows offer discussions with producers and others directly involved with the film. Quite remarkable! The only slight complaint could be that the main chairs could be unpleasant for a long seating if one has back issues. Fortunately, there is a small selection of more comfortable seats, and a willingness to accommodate. Visit if you can! Consider buying tickets in advance as popular shows have been known to sell out.
The ACME screening room is now open as of early February 2022. Closure was related to the coronavirus and the Sept 2021 flood in Lambertville. The films being shown are exceptional and appeal to a wide range if interests.
First time visiting, nice space for watching documentary and Indy films.
Never again... We drove 50 minutes, paid for parking, and went to see a film the venue had advertised. There was a poster in the window featuring the show. The film began on time and we immediately noticed that it was the WRONG FILM! I explained this to the staff and asked for a refund, only to be told that "all sales are final". I complained that you cannot charge for a movie that you do not show. A call was made to the executive director and I was told I would be contacted. I was not. Several attempts to reach the executive director have failed. This is a disorganized organization. While I like to support local theatre, this treatment is unacceptable. I will never go back.
Meeting of our community and officials come together to make Lambertville, NJ peace and historic sites with healing garden state love
The ACME Screening Room hosted the movie Awake, a documentary about Standing Rock. It is so wonderful that there are venues that will show movies of this import.
Very comfortable room for watching movies in downtown Lambertville - really enjoyed the experience and the staff were great and friendly.
Small community Art House theater. Run as a non-profit. Excellent choice of movies and programs each weekend.
Awesome theatre. Great selection of movies. Highly recommend!
