This place is really cute but the theaters have very simple, no frills equipment and seating. The theater floors are completely flat so if anyone is sitting in front of you your view will be obstructed. My experience was fine since there were probably less than ten people in my screening. This place is like a motel of movie theaters… not fancy but gets the job done. It is reminiscent of “back in the day” theaters from the 90s with uncomfortable chairs, haha. Maybe I’m spoiled now with the new movie theaters and the reclining chairs, haha, but I guess you get what you pay for. Tickets are cheap - and literally no one checked them. I didn’t see anyone working there the whole time we were there not at concessions either, so we didn’t get any food… very strange vibes haha, but I got to see the movie I wanted so, like I said, got the job done, haha… solid 3 stars. Most likely won’t be back…worth paying more for the comfy chairs in my opinion, haha.
This is not your average movie theater, but it's also a great place to catch a film. Located near the north/backside of the Union Market district, this is not a purpose-built venue, but a redesigned warehouse space. Limited concessions and a decent beer/wine list are available on site. Tickets are competitive with or lower than other venues despite the independent vibe. They only have four screens, so don't expect everything to be available. I really appreciate their dedication to showing independent, foreign, or re-run films.
Every time I visit our DC office I have to visit this place. One of my favorite places in general. Unique, quaint, special. Such a great, independent theater to watch movies. The pop up design definitely makes up for, and adds something to the experience where they lack big multiplex amenities. Can't wait to go back again.
It’s a fine small theater, seats don’t recline and the floor is flat so it may be harder to see if the theater is full. Lots of drink options but pricey $6 for a can of coke. The worker was kind of rude and unfriendly.
Great spot! Loved the smaller size of the theater and watching at the same level as everyone else. Felt more connected to everyone else watching the movie, if that makes sense. Only thing I’ll say is that it is not lit up inside whatsoever so finding seats was a bit difficult.
Great small theater to support and a must see if you go to union market. They also have cute but a little pricey things of Jeni’s ice cream at their concessions!
Great place for the independent style film world. It has that wonderful New York feel. An amazing event space all in one. Location. Employees were friendly and management is very professional with a personal touch. I highly recommend other seeing films at the theater, and or holding an event there.
Such a cute place. I saw the Little Mermaid here, the popcorn was surprisingly good, they had a ton of wine and beer options & tix prices were reasonable. The chairs aren't very comfortable but to be expected and not a big deal at all.
Love this little hole in the wall theater. No frills but clean. Good films, affordable prices. Convenient to metro and downtown. Also who doesn’t love being able to buy an alcoholic beverage at the theatre.
