I take private kickboxing lessons with Grace and it’s been an amazing add on to my weekly weight training routine. Grace knows how to challenge me, she’s great at breaking down the moves and explaining how I would use them in real life moments, the space is always clean and put together. It’s a great place to be for a great workout!
This is an incredible place that welcomes you with open arms. It's family run and you feel like family when you enter, too. My daughter has really enjoyed her training here because everyone is supportive and inspiring. All your questions get answered and you never feel rushed. It's a challenging workout and extremely rewarding, and Grace and Corey are great leaders. My daughter leaves here with a smile every time. I'm happy to have my daughter learning from them, and I'm so grateful they're here.
Great place to learn TKD. We started as a family a year ago, we can go at our pace and has taught confidence to all three kids. Highly recommend to anyone interested in learning. Mrs. Blackmer really knows her stuff.
Traverse City ATA is a safe, fun learning environment where children thrive! My four children, ages 4, 7, 13 and 15 have been training with Master Pline since 2012 and we all absolutely love it! Every class provides a great physical workout and fabulous mental exercise. The awesome instructors at Traverse City ATA instill priceless life skills onto every student. Honor, respect and self control are taught and demonstrated in a manner that children of all ages can understand and relate to. I have seen a tremendous difference in my children's behavior at home and at school since they began training. They are well focused, earn better grades and show great manners. Training at ATA has been one of the greatest and most important decisions I have ever made for my family!
Personally my daughters did not enjoy the classes, not because of this place specifically, karate just wasn't for them. I've read the other reviews, the prices were a bit higher than the other places and the contracts are strict, however the classes seemed good and as with everything else you get what you pay for. I was locked in for a 6 month contract, after a month my girls no longer wanted to attend, I was doing this to build self confidence and forcing them to do something they did not like didn't seem like a good idea. I spoke with Master Pline about my situation and he handled it in a very professional manner. Even though the classes didn't work out for my family, I was very happy with the over all experience.
My oldest son started in July of 2013, Right from the beginning he loved the classes and the values that Master Pline taught in the class helped him in his everyday life and boosted his self esteem greatly. Early in 2014 my youngest son wanted to start participating and he also showed signs that the training was effecting him in a positive way. Not long after I decided to try the training, I continue today due to the fact that it is an exceptional workout and it makes me feel great. The three of us continue in our training and as a family we continue to improve as a family from the positive training we receive from Master Pline as his team of instructors. The training goes way beyond learning the forms and techniques of ATA, it helps with anything from conditioning to behavioral challenges. I would recommend anyone to attend the training at the ATA facility, you will be greeted with a warm welcome.
My children love it and I love it! It can get pricey if you really decide to dedicate yourself, but they're willing to work with you on just about everything. It's well worth it to see the confidence and discipline my children are beginning to exhibit. And the instructors make classes so much fun!
We have been members since 2011. I have three kids who attend ATA. It provides great conditioning all year round for other sports my kids enjoy. The contract is only one page and very self explanatory. Master Pline is wonderful, He has taught my kids awesome life lessons and often I find myself verbally repeating his words to my kids as a back up in my parenting. For example: I take my kids on many vacations and am nervous of sending my boys into bathrooms by themselves. I remind them of what Master Pline has taught them in self defense and have them show me what to do in a scary situation. We love ATA and would recommend it to anyone. ATA has taught my kids respect, eye contact, perseverance, goals, commitment, honor, and confidence, just to name a few. After all, how many five year old boys know what perseverance means and uses it in their everyday language? Thank You Master Pline for being a great role model in my children's life.
This is a great place for any child to learn self-control, discipline, responsibility, and coordination. Master Pline is a great instructor and does a wonderful job with the kids. Motivational, encouraging, and consistent. ATA has classes for the younger kids, the older kids, for leadership, and for adults.
