Beautiful spot outside Pagosa! We visited lake after being disappointed w/ Lake Navajo & so happy we did. We took our 3 dogs around the lake then visited the bait shop. The couple was so nice, can't say enough good things about them! Area is clean, water is clear, has great views & the staff are awesome!!! Will definitely return next time we are in town!
The booking was fast and easy as well as check-in. The quiet hours were not observed by the big family group next to us, which made it difficult to sleep and relax. What a shame. The facilities were mainly clean and easily accessible.
Beautiful stocked lake! Park has a boat ramp so you can enjoy fishing from your boat which was amazing because of the great views and quietness and peacefulness of the park.
I camped here with my dog Zero, everyone is very friendly and helpful. The views are amazing and beautiful wildlife! Humming Birds, Osprey, Red Tail Hawks, Canadian Geese, etc.
I arrived in Pagosa Springs late on a Friday evening with no place to camp. Luckily I found the camping brochure at the visitor's center and made one phone call to Lake Capote. I was so happy to have found such a beautiful place to stay the evening. The lovely ladies at the front desk got me all checked in and gave me the best camping site! Thank you for the hospitality and I will be back!
This was one of the best experiences that we have ever had with our kids. Definitely going to be making this a yearly trip from now one i highly recommend this place for anyone to go on for a amazing camping experience.
I love the area it is so beautiful but need the signs in the ladies bathroom again cause two are missing and people need to stop missing with the signs also need some cubies for when someone forgets their stuff and call it "you forgot me" cubies in both men and women's bathrooms and two new signs that says "keep dogs out of the bathrooms" and "STOP TOUCHING THE SINGS". But love love it and the cleaning crew did a fantastic job with the cleaning thank you for letting me and my mom and dad along with my pets stay in lake capote thank you
Wow! This hidden gem is amazing. RV or dry camp in multiple environments around a beautiful lake. Warm friendly staff and owner. Just wish we had more time. It's on the "must stay again" list.
If you like noise and smoke, this is your place. We camped on a warm summer night when the fire danger was listed as "extreme." Arculeta County, San Juan National Forest, and the Southern Ute Tribe all had stage 1 fire restrictions in place. Despite this, at least half of the campsites had fires. Quiet hours begin at 9pm yet one large group played music and made plenty of noise until well past 1am. There was no enforcement of the rules.
Small but lots of fish. Bunch of docks you can fish off. And no swimming.
