The Confucius Institute at Pace University is the first university-based Confucius Institute in New York City.
Established in May 2009, the Confucius Institute at Pace University (Pace CI) is the first university-based Confucius Institute in New York City. It is also one of five Confucius Institutes in the Greater New York area.
Located in Downtown Manhattan, the financial, civic, and cultural center of New York, the Pace CI enjoys a unique geographical advantage. It is walking distance from New York City Hall, the New York Stock Exchange at Wall Street, and Chinatown. The Pace CI is conveniently accessible by subway and bus, as well as by major highways.
The Pace CI is the only CI in the world to have two Chinese partners – Nanjing Normal University (NNU), and Phoenix Publishing and Median Group (PPMG), in addition to Pace University, a private institution and our U.S. partner. It is also the only CI to partner with a publishing company. As a result, since day one, the Pace CI has stood out because of its collaborations between East and West, public and private sectors, and arts and sciences. The ultimate goal of the Pace CI is to build itself up to be a comprehensive, international, and modern organization with advanced philosophy, management, and systematic mechanisms.
The ultimate goals for the Pace CI are to provide high-quality Chinese language and cultural education, to build up cultural understanding among people, and to construct a harmonious society and a beautiful world.
