This place isn't it. The walls are paper thin. I could hear my roommate like she was in the same room with me. I also had an issue with my roommates volume to the point where I couldn't sleep and when I asked for outside assistance from the resident living team I was met with poor attempts to solve the issue. Even with my inability to sleep in my own apartment the resident director simply told me to live with it because the courtyards is a place that doesn't really take any action against violations on their lease. So be warned! The staff are not truly concerned with your well being and providing a space where you can thrive as a student. As the walls are paper thin you're not safe even if you know your roommates. You can very well hear people on the other floors. I can't stress enough the walls are PAPER THIN. Additionally some apartments which charge the same amount come with a renovated kitchen and a balcony while others don't. This place is simply a money grab. I personally wouldn't recommend anyone lives here. I wish I just spent the extra money to live at my last apartment.
It's a good, lively place to live in especially for students studying at the University of Maryland, College Park. Apartments are neat and spacious as shown on their website. A couple of issues might come up with the house initially which are repaired if requested. They have a clubhouse equipped with a small gym, basic dumbbells, cable and cardio machines, along with a heated swimming pool, Ping pong table and snooker. They organise events frequently so you get to know other residents too! Would definitely recommend this place since it's very close to UMD campus and has a dedicated shuttle, even at night!
I had a good experience overall at Courtyards. Apartments were a good size for the price and it was peaceful. We had no majors problems throughout the year. We also like that it was furnished. Only thing is some appliances were slow stove, so it took some time to heat up. The location is a miss, though. This isn't at all Courtyard's fault, but the UMD Shuttle system is awful, so scheduled stops are very unreliable. I'd recommend getting a bike or a car if you plan on living here due to the somewhat remote location.
Overall, I had a decent experience at Courtyards. The rent isn't bad in contrast with South Campus Commons or other housing options nearby. The amenities are nice, and the grounds are kept pretty clean. The package system is pretty reliable as well. There are several issues which really soured my experience. The RAs that run the front desk, in my experience, have been extremely unfriendly. I understand that it is a job that sometimes has inconvenient hours, but being rude is unacceptable. Over the summer, the drop off box for rent is closed. This means you can ONLY pay rent via check from 9-5 on the weekdays. I had an internship during both summers I lived in Courtyards, so it was extremely inconvenient and often a source of stress to find the time to pay rent on time. The online portal was not really an option for me, so paying in person was my only option. The reason given to me by staff for the closure of the rent drop off was that "sometimes students who move out put their keys in there." So... just put a sign there? Or even fine students who put their keys in there? How hard is it to differentiate checks and keys? It just struck me as a very silly reason to inconvenience students who were working and living there over the summer.
Though the interior isn't the newest and the apartment comes furnished, you should be meticulous about taking down notes regarding ANY damages as soon as you move-in. Overall, my experience living at Courtyards was not terrible; I lived comfortably in a 2 bed/2 bath. For the cost, $826/month with all utilities paid and wifi included and a washer/dryer in the apartment, you won't find much better in the area and close to campus, unless you have sufficient transportation. My problem with Courtyards happened after I had moved out. Courtyards management sent me an email listing approximately $300+ in damages citing things that I hadn't done and requiring me to pay. Now, I know that SOME of the damages that they were citing were my own fault and I do take responsibility. I paid the damages that were reasonable in a timely, professional manner within the deadline that they asked but months after I had moved out, Courtyards sent me a notice stating they were submitting my information to a collection agency, stating that I had never paid for damages and they were going to ruin my credit score. Once I received this notice, I promptly emailed Courtyards management to clear my name and information but not only did they never apologize for their disorganization, slandering my name nor did ever respond in a timely, professional manner. I had to go through an appeal process multiple times and never actually received a response -- they just stopped contacting me and trying to take my money. I have treated their staff with nothing but respect but the management needs to get it together organizationally and start acting professional.
Love living here. Very friendly staff and RAs and among the best rates you'll find in College Park all utilities included.
Great location to campus and free parking, but the apartment walls are too thin and can hear the living room too easily.
2 star rating that it has on Google rn is ridiculous. Great housing for the price and for college students
A quiet clean site. Good place.
