I travel all over and visit fire departments I enjoy taking to fellow firefighters and taking pictures of the station and rigs. I got to visit a few NYFD station this week and got to speak to a lot of firefighters, but I have never been treated so rudely until I visited the 10 house. I understand you guys probably have a ton of people visiting every day but no excuse for the way I was treated. I walked up to an opened roll up door and asked an engineer if I could take a few pictures he said sure no problem. I was standing in the door way taking a picture when another firefighter came up and rudely yelled at me that I can’t be in here taking pictures. I said I was just told I could and he asked who because you shouldn’t be in here. I pointed at the engineer on the other side of the engine I said sorry and started backing away then he started saying well just take your pictures. I took a couple more and left. I would hope most NYFD knows we want to visit your station to pay respect for you’re brothers that paid the ultimate price on that tragic day and what you guys do everyday.
Great brass relief mural on the side of the firehouse. The artist used the actual faces of each member of the firehouse that died on 9/11 or from toxic exposure during the rescue and clean up. If you look at the photos next to the mural, you will see all of them, including Pete Davidson’s dad. Very moving and personal tribute to fallen heroes.
Just uploaded a picture of Ground Zero in February 2002. I put my dress shoes with Ground Zero dirt on them in plastic that day. Next month the last shipmate in that picture retires. I will bury those shoes on a hill overlooking the Ohio River where Bald Eagles fly next month March 2022. I saw a look on firefighters faces that day I have only seen in war zones.
Thanks for treating a fellow firehouse so well. Mad respect for all of you.
Thank You For Your Service
Such an amazing and sobering place to visit. I come here every time I am in NY. This house gave more than their share on 9/11 and the memorial on the wall is fitting and beautiful. The place is closed up tight, I was able to talk to a cop that was a friend to one of the firefighters which got me a tour of the place. I was honored to be able to meet the men kg the that house, trade department T-shirts and tell them thanks. Thank you for your service, dedication and sacrifice.
Hi Brooklyn I’ve been away from home too long. I’m not going to abandon you guys. At the age of 13 I Sacrificed myself so my friend could live. It was in a synagogue under construction. At the age of 18 similar situation it was out at sea a boat was sinking and I save the people on board. At the age of 47 I was a caregiver for five years My partner passed of colon cancer. I’m 64 years old I hope this photo helps.Jesus and Moses This photo was shot from my music room two months ago. it’s weird my birthday is 1010.
I met some guys from this firehouse at the firehouse in Saugus, Massachusetts in 1957. I warned them that my uncle's from the middle East threatened to do this. I put Ray they all survived. Love always Sandy. I was 4 or 5 years old at the time.
The best fire department in NYC they doing excellent Job and saving a lot of lives. We are proud to have them in our community god bless them.
Very special place for the NYFD being this was right across the street from the old World Trade Center buildings. Has a great memorial for the firefighters that day on 9/11.
