I was there at the 9/11 memorial yesterday and since the place was cordoned only with access to the victims' families, the closest I got to, was the fire department... i was there in the second row among the crowd, in red...i don't know if this matters, but I'll share pictures for all the gentlemen while the moments of silence were observed... as a flight attendant, i had to report at my hotel by 10.30am...but i still came over to stand in dilatory for the guest two moments of silence.. the place i come from also has its own history of attacks and it breaks my heart.. but its thanks to men and women who serve in such processions that give us all a hope...i hope all of you never go through any such tragedy and may you be protected and safe everywhere you have to go.... Best Regards, Shaheen Guard
I have lots of respect of the members of the FDNY and of Engine 10 & Ladder 10. In early March 2020 I had the privilege of visiting this fire house got to meet some of the members and I even got a T shirt and hat from them. Besides getting a shirt and hat I also got the chance to see the members of Engine 10 and Ladder 10 respond to a call it truly was a day that I will never forget
Second time visiting as we always check out the 9/11 memorial. They have a beautiful memorial for the 343 fallen Firefighters. Very friendly
First trip to New York 2021 can't wait for our next visit in December 23. All heroes
I travel all over and visit fire departments I enjoy taking to fellow firefighters and taking pictures of the station and rigs. I got to visit a few NYFD station this week and got to speak to a lot of firefighters, but I have never been treated so rudely until I visited the 10 house. I understand you guys probably have a ton of people visiting every day but no excuse for the way I was treated. I walked up to an opened roll up door and asked an engineer if I could take a few pictures he said sure no problem. I was standing in the door way taking a picture when another firefighter came up and rudely yelled at me that I can’t be in here taking pictures. I said I was just told I could and he asked who because you shouldn’t be in here. I pointed at the engineer on the other side of the engine I said sorry and started backing away then he started saying well just take your pictures. I took a couple more and left. I would hope most NYFD knows we want to visit your station to pay respect for you’re brothers that paid the ultimate price on that tragic day and what you guys do everyday.
My daughter stepped on the man hole and burned her foot, badly. They jumped into action and got us an ambulance in seconds. Thank you so much. Harper is much better now.
Great brass relief mural on the side of the firehouse. The artist used the actual faces of each member of the firehouse that died on 9/11 or from toxic exposure during the rescue and clean up. If you look at the photos next to the mural, you will see all of them, including Pete Davidson’s dad. Very moving and personal tribute to fallen heroes.
Just uploaded a picture of Ground Zero in February 2002. I put my dress shoes with Ground Zero dirt on them in plastic that day. Next month the last shipmate in that picture retires. I will bury those shoes on a hill overlooking the Ohio River where Bald Eagles fly next month March 2022. I saw a look on firefighters faces that day I have only seen in war zones.
Such an amazing and sobering place to visit. I come here every time I am in NY. This house gave more than their share on 9/11 and the memorial on the wall is fitting and beautiful. The place is closed up tight, I was able to talk to a cop that was a friend to one of the firefighters which got me a tour of the place. I was honored to be able to meet the men kg the that house, trade department T-shirts and tell them thanks. Thank you for your service, dedication and sacrifice.
