In the past, I used to be a VIP GOLD member of Hertz rental car, enjoying the best and most convenient services during my professional career. However, as circumstances changed, I had to adjust my expectations for economic reasons and opted for Fox rental car. My first experience with Fox during the pandemic a couple of years ago left me a bit dissatisfied with the reservation process, shuttle service, and customer services. Recently, I tried other cheap rental car services like Payless, and surprisingly, I found myself missing the services I had received from Fox. Today, when I arrived at LAX, the first shuttle bus to pull up at the shuttle bus section was the Fox Rental car bus. I didn't have to wait for even a second and arrived at the office within 5 minutes. To my pleasant surprise, the gentleman at the registration table greeted me in my own language after noticing my nationality from my last name. He was incredibly friendly, making me feel comfortable and valued as a customer. I received the same car I had booked, which was almost new and spotlessly clean. The only small hiccup was that the car wasn't immediately ready due to cleaning, but the wait was only about 20 minutes, and the lady at the station apologized for the delay. Overall, everything went really well, and the efficient service made the wait worthwhile. I was pleased with the entire rental car experience at Fox, and I'm glad I gave them another chance.
The shuttle service was available to bus us to the rental. There were a few workers there, no long lines. Lobby was spacious. Was able to get the car requested. They seems to have many cars in their garage. Lots of sports coupe. Though the car pick up felt like eternity, appreciate the service and business.
Car in rough shape, high miles 70K+, poor attitude from agent. Call center agent unable to answer detailed insurance questions. You get what you paid for. This is a situation where you get what you paid for. Yes, Fox is slightly cheaper than other national leading car rental companies. To get the lowest rate, you have to pre-paid the booking. And they also pre-charge a $150 security deposit released/refuned about ~1 week after we returned the car. They have a direct and frequent shuttle to/from LAX. I arrived on a Thu night ~8pm and surprisingly, there were to customer there, so no wait line. The agent was okay at the beginning, but the attitude went down hill when he started to upsell me toll pass $45 for a 4 days rental and insurances, and I declined them all, he wasn’t too happy about it, and he started to throw my ID and credit cards onto the counter when returning things to me. We planned on driving into Mexico, Fox is one of the few rental companies that would allow you to drive their car into Mexico. However, you can only have a sedan no SUV or larger, so we had to downgrade from a compact SUV to a full size sedan no price difference was refunded. They sell Mexico insurance, which is required to drive into Mexico. Here are some detail for it: - You can purchase it just for the days you will be in Mexico. We purchased it just for that one single day we know we will be in Mexico. They go by per 24 hours bases, and not per calendar day. - $31 per day. It covers: Collision 25K coverage w/ $500 deductible for sedan, Comprehensive 25K coverage w/ $1000 deductible for sedan, $100K property damage liability, $250K bodily liability, medical expense $2K a person / 10K per accident, legal defense and bail bond and roadside assistance are both included. It’s a pretty well covered policy for the cost! - The policy is sold by ABIS Group American Border Insurance Service. We had to wait 20+ minutes before the car was done cleaning and ready for us. The Car we got was in rough shape, many exterior/cosmetic damages with 70K+ miles Camry. And it had no floor mat. We also saw a few other cars just finished cleaning and they were all with a lot of cosmetic damages. At least the car had no mechanical issues and had Android Auto / Apple CarPlay which was nice! As the car had so many cosmetic damages, during the self-inspection process, we pretty much marked all areas with damages. You take the car to the exit gate agent and they would take a copy over and then you are good to go. The car return process was very smooth. As the car was already in a rough shape when picking up, so it was easy in the return step as the almost boxes on the self-inspection sheet had all been marked, and the staff also clearly know their cars are in rough shape, so it took seconds for him to complete the return inspection and we got our final bill no any additional charge!. And they have a waiting area for the shuttle back to LAX. All in all, if I need to drive to Mexico again, I’ll rent with Fox again. But if not, I’ll explore other car rental companies too. I Hope the poor agent attitude can be addressed.
The vehicle is great condition, clean, comfortable, kind of grand new, the staff is not friendly . I had to pay out of pocket more money when I picked up the vehicle. I said to her I didn’t know that I have to pay a lot more, she said “ Do you want to rent or not” , I had no other choice but saying “ I take it” . I had reserved the rental car for a week in a month advance, I couldn’t change at the end. I recommend the car but not the service, too expensive
Had a great experience with Fox rental. Quick check in and check out. Rented a sedan. There was about 20min wait for check-in, but they offered us a different car if we didn't want to wait. The car was in good condition and clean. The staff were really professional and friendly. I was a bit worried since the reviews were below 3, but my experience was definitely a 5 star.
Absolutely terrible experience. We had to wait in line for an hour and a half just to speak to someone and we had a reservation. Then they send you to the pickup line and there’s another 2 1/2 hour wait. I would absolutely spend more money and rent from a reputable company never again. Never ever ever again. They are still selling cars and there aren’t any at all!
IDK how much of this has to do with luck, but the shuttle was available as soon as we left LAX. I paid in advance, so by the time we got through the line which had 3 different registers running on a Monday evening, I was sitting in the rental car within 5-10 minutes. The cashier, car attendant, and inspection attendant were all overwhelmingly friendly, and I’m bummed I didn’t get their names. We rented a premium car and had the option of waiting for a Dodge Charger to come in, or choosing one of three different colored Challengers. The white Challenger we chose was definitely treated well, and we were very happy with it. Last point - it was at least 40% cheaper than Hertz. Next time I’m in LA, I’m 100% going through Fox.
They ripped me off by charging additional 3d party liability insurance. I booked a small size suv, but ended up with 4 door Wrangler which had too much play in the steering wheel. Had to come back and swap the vehicles. The condition of both cars was below average.
We were very pleased with the service and quality of the rental. I guess we can say that we were lucky enough to be the only ones at that time in the office so we did not wait in any lines. Car that we got was exactly what we book and was in a very excellent condition. The assistance and the professionalism of one particular employee NEBIYAT surprised us the most. She was very kind, friendly and professional. Thank you.
This was my first time using Fox rental and the process from start to finish was great! The airport shuttle was quick and ran frequently. The customer service picking up the car was great and dropping off was quick. The only two issues I had was the car wasn't the cleanest but it was better than another company I have used. Also, the lady who checked us out when we picked up the car tried to force us to return the car gas empty for them to fill it up. She lied that LA’s gas was more than what they would charge. I was smart enough not to listen and returned the car with a full tank of gas. When I looked at my receipt they would have charged me $8.99 per gallon. The gas stations in LA were the highest a little over $5. Not sure if they get a commission from these extracts.
