I was happy to see that patients were being cared for with dignity. Nurses & staff were knowledgeable & polite. My aunt's room & restroom were clean & inviting. I had called the center a couple of days before I visited to check on my aunt's arrival. The phone was answered quickly & pleasantly. I left today with a good feeling. Thanks for all that you do!
We placed our mother in rehab after 3 weeks in the hospital. After lying for so long, we thought they would be able to help her get around a bit. We also assumed that they'd work with her at least 30 minutes a day for at least 5 days a week. Their visiting hours are 8am to 8pm. My sister or myself was with her every minute of those hours, every day. We soon discovered that their idea of rehabilitation is mainly getting her out of bed and sitting her up in a wheelchair for a few hours. Sometimes even abandoned by the rehabilitation "expert" until other staff puts them back in bed The most time that they spent rehabilitating her was 11 minutes. Mostly it was 3 to 5 minutes. We had to file an appeal with Medicare to keep her in there for another week. At which time, my sister and I started working with her. It angered the rehabilitation lady when she discovered we had her walking. Had we not, we think it would have been months before she was better. I want to make it clear, the CNA's and nurses are absolutely phenomenal. Although understaffed, they are knowledgeable, very patient, caring and hardworking. However, if you have someone who need rehabilitation, please find him/her somewhere else. This facility is a waste of money for that purpose.
Great Oaks was very secure and welcoming! My Uncle is staying there for rehab and the times I have visited him, the staff are in the halls/ rooms working with a smileVery clean smelling and clean! Thank you everyone for taking great care of my precious Uncle Bruce
From the moment of contact, it was a professional friendly environment! A family oriented approach, staff along with residents were eager to meet me and show me the ropes. That’s important to me in a caregiving workplace. I’m proud to be apart of Great Oaks Rehabilitation and Healthcare team!!!
My mother was there for rehab following surgery for fractured kneecap. The weekday staff was great especially Loretta. The weekend staff was mostly agency, so they just didn’t care. My mother had mild dementia & got up out of bed early one morning. She fell, hitting her head extremely hard. She was on blood thinner, so the fall caused massive bleeding in her head. She was not immediately sent to the hospital. This is a failure of the nurse practitioner. My Mom passed away 7 hours later. They also have antiquated beds. Most facilities have beds with alarms to let staff know if a patient is trying to get out of bed. Also, I was told the physical therapist wouldn’t allow side rails on the bed. That is ridiculous! This facility is not safe & I would not recommend it. When my Mother was admitted to rehab, no one ever came to her room to admit her. I had to go to the nurses station & ask for an oxygen concentrator. Finally got it 30 minutes after my Mom was dropped off. I was never told anything about what to expect or what our responsibilities were. I was never told how long Medicare had approved for her to be there or what was covered. I feel these are failures of the administration. Poor communication. The physical therapy seems adequate but there was no progress reports unless you contact them, which is not easy. Most rehab facilities give you weekly updates. Also, 2 different times, a women who calls herself a social worker, Gwen, changed my Mother’s follow up doctor appointment without the doctor’s ok or my permission. Overall, I was disappointed, to say the least.
Staff was friendly and helpful in getting us through the entry process. They also were wonderful hosts. They made us feel welcomed. The Residents were cheerful.
The entirely staff was great. They were so friendly and the facility was clean. The administration came out and greeted us with a smile.
Place is amazing, clean, sure the staff can be rude at times, but they always pull through. The housekeepers are spot on their job, laundry is folded and washed, and clothes are taken out perfectly.
My experience here at Great Oaks as a staff member and a student has been the best experience I’ve had at any facility. Everyone here is very loving, polite and easy to talk to about any information. They treat all the residents, staffs and visitors with the upmost respect. I love the facility it’s always clean and fresh and they always treat the residents with respect..
