We strive to support teachers to feel empowered to claim happiness as their own. Teachers don’t feel obligated to sacrifice their wholeness or well-being in order to perform well professionally. Teachers feel that living a complete, happy life runs alongside their ability to form authentic relationships with students. Teachers feel empowered to stay in the classroom because they feel emotionally supported and fulfilled.
We operate on a core set of Principles:
§ Valuing
Every teacher acts as a caregiver, educator, and advocate for dozens of lives each year. We strive to value all the hats they wear, all they ways they wear them and all the perspectives and stories each of them bring to the table.
§ Empathizing
The work that teachers engage in is personal - it takes a personal commitment and comes with
personal rewards and sacrifices. We strive to recognize and give voice to these sacrifices.
§ Supporting
The happy teacher revolution is a network of teachers - a network that serves as a support system for teachers who are struggling with the shame, blame, guilt and difficulties of balancing an
incredibly demanding profession with their own sense of self and happiness.
§ Empowering
Often, teachers are asked to give so much in terms of time, money, and emotional capacity. We
strive to empower teachers to push back on these expectations in hopes of them striking a balance
between excellent teaching and personal sustainability.
