Couldn’t have asked for a better labor and delivery experience. The doctors and nurses went above and beyond for me and my baby. They were all so informative, helpful, empathic, kind, gentle, understanding, the list goes on and on. If you’re looking for a place to have your baby where you feel truly cared for then look no further
Excellent neurosurgeon. There’s nobody better in CT. That’s a given. New surgery wing is amazing. All the rooms are “private” and immaculate. A few bumps, with “certain” staff. Long wait on “call button.” 1 hour It’s the best hospital in CT., imo-
Was transferred in from Backus Hospital because I needed an emergency c-section at 34 weeks pregnant. At 1st I was terrified but after arriving all my worries were calmed. The Labor and Delivery Department was incredible as well as the postpartum department. The NICU staff was just as amazing. It's because of everyone there that my baby girl is healthy and hone with us. Thank you
My family member has been very ill with a rare condition. This hospital has been horrible to deal with. To avoid any hippa violations, I just want to say that they were more concerned with the type of insurance this person had them to try to save this persons life. They made the patient feel worse than they already felt and waited until the family had gone home to get some rest to discharge this patient. The nurse responsible for the discharge was visibly upset and did everything she could to change the doctors mind. This meant a lot to us and we will never forget her kindness. The next day our family member was rushed to another hospital. I cannot disclose the outcome however, we will never forgot the impact this hospital had on us.
I have to believe the hospital is horribly understaffed. I was there for a spinal fusion. Trying to get a nurse in the room was an exercise of futility. The worst was when the IV came out of my vein and my whole arm swelled up painfully. No one would answer the call button and I finally just started screaming. Wasn’t able to eat because they would plop the tray out of reach and run out of the room. Was discharged in a big hurry with no instructions and they never set up the promised home healthcare. If you have the misfortune to be admitted to this place, make sure you have a family member there 24/7 to advocate for you. I had one good nurses aide but the day nurse in particular never showed her face in the room. Horrible place. I’d rather shoot myself in the head than go back in that place!
My husband needed neurosurgery and Dr. Bulsara is overall excellentfrom bedside manner to successful outcome of the surgery. Dr. Roberts EENT is also excellent and all the staff hospital and offices alikehas excellent customer service. The hospital and offices are very clean.
Experienced compassionate care with knowledgeable and competent staff. Very impressed with all of the staff; from the ED to the ICU to the oncology floor and post surgery floor. Was there as an advocate / family member often over the last few months. From the care provided and communication to post care follow up I was impressed. Kudos to the staff at UConn.
I am very disappointed with the service. My sister’s labor was completed there. Coming from south east background we are very private and sensitive about this matter. I am shocked that they did not let my mother to stay there. At this time of her life, she needs her family there. Specifically mother’s love. I understand they wanted to keep the place more sanitary and less crowded. But they at least should have let my mother to stay overnight for 2 days. Yes they let my brother in law to stay. But she need her mother to share thoughts and feelings. Additionally, my mom can’t speak English. So, my brother in law needed to be there. I don’t know about western culture but our mother’s love is most important than anything in the world to us. Even husband’s. Beside i am senior uconn student. They didn’t even let me go up there because not more than 2 visitors are allowed. This is just disgraceful that not allowing her mother to stay overnight. She was not using any facilities or food or anything. They were treating as we never seen or know how to take care of mother and baby after before birth. If you want to be that much secure than why not install all the security checking system. I will be reporting this to the governor.
Had my baby here, this is a teaching hospital. After thinking about it for a few weeks baby born 1/2, I think a more experienced doctor would've prevented my birth complications and subsequent stay in the nicu for my newborn. The nurses in labor and delivery seem to know more than these new doctors as they had to give advice on how to deliver the placenta. The nicu seem to be the same, young gossipy, favoritism nurses, while fake sleeping I overheard nurses and a long term nicu mom talking about myself and other people in the nicu. Wouldn't recommend to anyone having a baby. Currently speaking with a lawyer as the refused me my placenta when asked to take it home. I never signed for them to keep it.not to mention there were things billed to my insurance that I never used and they treated me like I knew nothing about a newborn and how to care for one, this is my third child. Incompetent!
Well in November of 2005 I was pregnant with twins. As soon as I arrived at the hospital I started hemorrhaging out therefore I had to have an emergency c-section at 23 weeks. I almost died but by the grace of God they saved my life. 1 of my twins died 4 days later and my live twin just turned 17. He's very healthy. Forever Grateful
