The City of Norfolk’s historic municipal cemeteries are valuable artistic, educational, cultural, and recreational resources for our community. Therefore, it is critical to ensure the conservation and preservation of these sacred spaces.
NSCC is an ACTIVE, HANDS ON, WORKING organization that is directly involved with the conservation of Norfolk's historic municipal cemeteries. The City of Norfolk considers all monuments, statues, and mausoleums to be private property. Therefore, it is up to the community to restore and preserve these outdoor museums of cultural heritage, history, public art, and memorial architecture.
The mission of the NORFOLK SOCIETY FOR CEMETERY CONSERVATION is to preserve, protect, and promote historic municipal cemeteries located in Norfolk, Virginia through conservation, education, and advocacy.
