if it was possible to give zero stars that is what this fellow earned. He was late without apology for everything involved with my care, both office and hospital appointments. Add that to no explanation for procedures or care and you can see the reason for such a low rating. I would not recommend him for anything.
I appreciate the care Dr. Johnson performed for me over 20 years ago. He was compassionate, thorough, and very attentive to my needs. I have recommended several people to him.
I'm new to this area. I'm lucky to have found Dr. Johnson. He is very kind, caring, gentle and knowledgeable. I have IC Interstitial Cystitis and he has been a God send for me. He can be a bit "short", when he's busy, but he's NEVER rude and is happy to answer all questions, and to thoroughly explain things. I found him because of a 6mm Kidney Stone, that sent me to the ER because it was stuck and I had to be admitted, so that they could monitor my condition & keep my pain and nausea under control, until a lithotripsy & Ureteral Stent placement surgery could be done the next afternoon. Dr. Johnson just so happened to be the on call Urologist that night. When I met him, he listened to my "whole story" with IC, and assured me that I would be okay. He made sure that I was comfortable and my condition was monitored, until he could do the surgery... He also explained everything that he was going to do, and patiently answered all of my questions. Very professional! The lithotripsy & stent placement was a success. He decided to keep me in the hospital another night, though, to ensure that my pain was under control and I did not have any complications from the surgery. He even placed a "cocktail" of meds directly in my bladder, while I was still asleep, to help ease the day-to-day pain of my IC after. He didn't have to do that, but I'm so glad he did. One of the many things that goes to show what a wonderful Urologist he is. He even kept some mean doctor, that I had never met, from discharging me from the hospital, with no post-op pain or nausea meds. I called Dr. Johnson, and he stopped that other doc right away, and told them that I have different circumstances, and he'd be coming to discharge me himself. He came over shortly after speaking to him on his lunch break and discussed with me what to expect, gave me enough post-op pain & nausea meds to help keep me comfortable and discharged me himself. My body did NOT like the stent. At all. It was supposed to be in for 2 weeks, but one week after having the surgery, I was so miserable that I went BACK to the ER, because I thought something was wrong. Everything turned out to be "normal", but that didn't make the stent any less unbearable. The ER doc told me to follow up with Dr. Johnson the next day. I called and left a message, explaining what was going on, at like 3am, for him to get the next morning. Dr. Johnson himself called me later that morning and told me when to be at his office - he was working me in and FAST - so that he could remove the stent, because he didn't want me to be miserable. He removed the stent and I felt so much better right away, but went the extra mile and put numbing medicine lidocaine, I think? directly into my bladder after removing the stent, because of my IC, he knew it was going to irritate things. He also made sure I have enough pain and nausea meds to get thru a couple of days, because it's still irritated in there. Again - he told me to call if I have any questions, or if anything is wrong. I'm VERY picky about doctors, and it's hard to earn my trust. I trust Dr. Johnson and he will now be my new permanent urologist here. I can't thank him and his staff enough. They're all very kind and compassionate. I feel like Dr. Johnson TRULY CARES about his patients and how they feel. He has told me MANY times to call if I need him, and the one time I did, he was right on it. I'm very thankful that Kidney stone happened, because now I have a new, WONDERFUL & supportive Urologist. I highly recommend him.
